who is a good buy low ? (1 Viewer)

Hines Ward

Chad Johnson

It's hard to get these guys though...because of the big name...but I bet some owners are getting a bit impatient with these two upper echelon WR's...

I think Hines's #'s will improve as Ben gets better....I question CJ though...I think his blabbering is going to get him killed knocked silly again..

In ppr leagues there are two guys you can get for free who will score double digits most weeks.

Mike Furrey

Alvis Whited

For a flyer, I like Jerious Norwood as he showed nothing against New Orleans and would be solid if Dunn were to miss any time.

How are these guys buy low candidates? Did they ever have value in the first place? I think Randy Moss is a good buy low candidate. His value can't get any lower right now, just don't overpay and expect him to be the Randy of old.

Droughns (teams Cleveland played are 9-0, and they nearly beat Balt. with no running game this week)

Kevin Jones (quietly putting up good RB #'s in PPR leagues, and getting familiar with Martz' system)

Culpepper (high upside once he gets fully healthy and comfortable with offensive system)

T.O. (broken finger shouldn't be an issue now with plate inserted, has shown very positive attitude)

I think Gates and Portis are good buy low canidates.

People might say "what, those guys aren't buy low canidates" but Gates hasn't been usual Gates yet (only due to them killing teams and not having to pass and Portis still is thought of a hurt and I still think he'll be #2 overall rb this year.

Mike Furrey has the following states through three weeks:21 Targets14 Receptions160 total yardsAlvis whited had 9 targets in week 2. week 3 was a bye week.

I think the fate of both of these guys depends on what happens to Jerry Porter. If Porter gets out of the doghouse, he'll likely replace Whitted. If he stays in the doghouse, he'll likely be traded away, and Detroit has asked about him, so he may take Furrey's place.

Furrey is mostly an underneath guy, double digit points will be rare if he holdsthe starting gig.

Not sure about Portis. His owners have to be positively giddy after his game last Sunday. I doubt you can get him cheap coming off that game. And as far as Gates, he's only played two games and given the high cost it took to get him his owners will probably ask for (and rightfully so in my opinion) a very high return to get him. Now if he struggles this week against the Ravens then you might be able to swoop in and get him. But given how the Ravens really struggled with Winslow last week I wouldn't automatically assume Gates is going to have a tough game this week.

You've been way higher on Caddy then I ever was, but I must ask what numbers are you projected the rest of the way for Williams given that the Bucs have been awful, the OL has been terrible, their starter is likely done for the season, and they are going to throw in a green rookie QB (Caddy's injuries not withstanding). None of those make me feel warm and fuzzy over Williams.

Gates cost owners a 2nd or 3rd round pick in some leagues (even a first in some I was in but they inflate TE scoring). Unless a trade partner will be willing to fork over something pretty good in exchange, I doubt Gates' price tag will drop unless he really staggers for a few more weeks.

The ironic post of the day.I like the list though- would add Bulger, Delhomme, R Moss and SA.

Without performing a detailed analysis I'd expect something like what McGahee got last year with a few more TDs. Very similar situation...horrible environment, but a very talented runner.

Agreed, I think sooner or later the pedigree of Caddy and Gruden surfaces. Obviously not to elite levels but Caddy should get plenty of opportunities, that usually bodes will in FF. If I'm not mistaken the Bucs will be getting back some injured OL soon too.

I think that that's wishful thinking, but c'est la vie. I thought Williams' ceiling this year was McGahee's output last year, but all the latest developments knock him down from there in my book. 8 in the box with a rookie QB and no blocking spells trouble in my book. With Simms at QB, he had a high of 48 yards and a 2.5 ypc so far this year. He'll do better than that most weeks, but I don't see many 100 yard rushing outings on the horizon. And IMO there really is no soft stretch in his schedule.

interested in your thoughts here.if you are right, he could be big for people who missed the Pennington/Rivers/Grossman/Frye boat. (or are dealing with someone like Brooks or Simms on their roster.)

I had him projected in the top 5 in the beginning of the year and I'm not as concerned about the O-Line as others. He's performed rather well considering the defenses he's faced IMHO. But with the TO drama going on I wouldn't pay too much...much of my ranking was predicated on the fact he's be throwing to TO...which I think he still will be.
