Who is having the 2nd worst draft? (1 Viewer)

The Titans have made 6 picks and the only position that seems to have been upgraded in the slightest is safety, and that upgrade can be attributed to the fact that the guy they had (Thompson) is so bad. Unreal.

These picks are terrible. Aside from not packaging any picks to move up when noticable talent was still on the board, the Titans seem content to continue the "'let's throw dung on the wall and see what sticks" style of drafting. The 2 receivers they've selected are already on the roster in Roby and Williams. The RB they selected could have been had in a later round and is easily interchangeable with Pittman, Bush, or Jackson.

The linemen they've selected will be depth. Whooptee doo.

They still don't have a pass rush. They still don't have an inside LB. They still don't have 2 NFL-starter level corners. They still don't have a kick returner for this season. And they still don't have anyone for Vince to pass to.

I was actually hoping they'd draft Troy Smith just now to back up Young since the talent left on the board is all so mediocre; at least Smith has a history of being productive at a high level in college.

Here's how I would have done it, now that I can see who they took and who they COULD have taken...

1. Aaron Ross (2nd corner and kick returner)

2. Steve Smith (decent receiver, fmailiar with Chow)

3. Charles Johnson (DE to help w/ pass rush)

4. Trade for BMW

5. Josh Beekman

6. Troy Smith (backup for Vince who plays in a similar style)

I am HOPING they draft Brandon Siler w/ the next pick. That would help a little. Right now, this team has done very little nothing to improve. Teams like Oakland, St. Louis, Atlanta are running laps around them....

It isn't so much the passing on Quinn... as much as the drafting of Ginn at 9. If you really like him all that much, trade down for an extra 3rd with the Bills who were eyeing Willis.

It isn't so much that it wasn't Quinn, it's just that it was Ginn too early.

Colin, go drink a beer............ I can't say I am ecstatic about the draft either but until the new FO proves me wrong I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt. Paul Williams has been picked by many as one of the few guys outside of meachum, bowe, and Calvin that has legit #1 NFL WR potential. Baca from Bloom's Draftguys site has him rated ahead of Steve Smith matter of fact.

THe only true concern I have is DE. My gut tells me that if we have been neglecting DE this draft then we must have our sights set on a pickup of a quality player cut in June. Maybe even Jevon Kearse. Now if we go into the season with our current set of DEs then I will be real worried.

From Reinfeldt's press conference...

(on if it was disappointing not obtaining Michael Turner and Mike Williams)During the day we had a number of discussions with a number of different clubs and its part of what goes on. I think the good thing for us is that if you would’ve told me that Chris Henry would’ve been available in the second round we’ve would’ve always been happy with that. So I think as long as you have options, the options that worked out we’re very comfortable with that.
Really? What if I'd told you Chris Henry would have been there in the THIRD round?

My vote goes to the Giants. Their primary need was the o-line, and this still hasnt been addressed in the draft. It's going to be a long year for Eli Manning owners.

I AM drinking a beer. :goodposting:The Williams pick doesn't bother me as much as the others. Chris Henry had better be the 2nd coming. There were SO many guys on the board that I think would have been much better choices and addressed much bigger needs.

The Chris Henry pick ranks as one of the worst skill position selections I've seen in the past 3-4 years.

thanx for rams props... i like their draft a lot, too...do you think intent on getting henry (obviously they needed somebody with henry & brown moving on) was to start, RBBC with white or depth?

Marv Levy said today the Bills would not have drafted Patrick Willis at #12 even if he was there. They had 3 players they wanted there and Lynch and Posluszny were two of them. Seems odd, but not sure why he'd lie about it.

Adding a CB and pass rusher is making this draft grow on me

The Chris Davis pick on the other hand...

Can anybody tell me anything good about this guy??

Strengths:

A very good athlete...Great quickness...Tough and plays bigger than he is...Runs good routes...Can make something happen after the catch...Good hands and will make some spectacular grabs...Will work the middle of the field...He gives a good effort as a blocker...Might have some special teams potential as a punt returner.

Weaknesses:

Frail and doesn't have the bulk you look for...Height is only average...Lacks elite timed speed...Needs to get stronger...Has some durability concerns...Is not much of a vertical deep threat...Production was okay but not great...Upside is limited.

Notes:

Was a very highly regarded recruit coming out of high school...Tore his ACL in '02 and redshirted as a freshman...A nice college player who just does not have the measurables you look for...Could make a team as a #4 wideout and return man.

As an outsider I looked at the Tians draft and said WTF? Horrible. Just horrible. I think the Eagles have you beat right now.

As a Titans fan, I was really shocked at the draft. However, my sky isn't falling.

One good thing I can say about it, is that I won't have to suffer Lamont Thompson's shabby play again this year. For that reason alone, I won't say we had a ####ty draft.

Plus, we may have gotten our future center who gets to learn behind a possible HOFer in Mawae.

Paul Williams could turn out to be a great pick, and who knows, maybe that Henry guy will be awesome (The FO saw something in him, and if his interview can be believed, he was told by other teams that he was a 2nd round pick, so maybe we didn't reach afterall). At the very least, if he pushes LW enough to really take it serious and live up to his full potential, then the pick is worth it in my eyes.

We're gonna be hearing about the WR's we could've drafted in round one or two for the entire season now, but the ones we had a chance at, I really don't see any of them outperforming whoever we have as our number one WR. If that turns out to be true, us passing on them hopefully will be justified in the eyes of the fans.

Ask yourself this, if David Givens turns out to be the player we hope he is, would you still have wanted a WR in round one or two?

Or...

Would you rather have a 2nd round rookie WR starting, or a third year Brandon Jones?

GMs lied about everything else connected to the draft for the last 3 months, now he's telling the truth.OKMore likely because there is nothing to be gained by professing a preference for Willis at this point. He gets more benefit by praising his own players. If the Bills had POZ rated higher than Willis then pushing Modrak out the door couldn't happen soon enough. The rest of teh league had POZ a 2nd round talent as was shown on draft day.

DeMeco Ryans was taken with the 1st pick in the 2nd round a year ago. Given his performance as a rookie, I'm pretty sure the Texans woudn't have made a mistake to draft him at the #12 spot even though the rest of the league considered him a "2nd round talent".

The Bengals had the second worst draft

Come on another RB and a f ing QB when you have the 30th rated defense? unbelievable.

Most teams had Poz as a mid first rounder. Even Kiper was saying after Willis went, that Poz would go next anytime teams with LB needs came up. When Pitt took Timmons, Kiper was talking about Poz going to them maybe.Poz was a great pick where he went, a steal really.
