Who is having the best draft? (1 Viewer)

as a Lions fan i'm surprised by the lack of support.....clearly Mayhew learned at the foot of the master.....this guy is clearly the smartest guy in the room...I don't like to use the word genius and dynasty often, but.....

I like the Jags getting two lineman and not succumbing to the pressure for a WR. Monroe is excellent and Eben Britton will be good. This makes their line deep and flexible. They can find WRs on day two if they need more depth, which they do. Walker and Holt are a good combo if both can stay healthy.

The Lions have done well despite what people think of Stafford. This is a true-build for the the long haul deal. Schwartz will be there for a a while and Linehan will slowly bring Stafford along. Pettigrew is a good target and Stafford is good going to the TE.

Giants--three good picks already.

I like Denver's draft of Moreno and Alphonso Smith--very good corner to pair with Bailey.

Im not real happy with Dallas's draft. I think Cleveland screwed them over by taking that WR from Georgia. Laaame

May be a homer and all, and they did give up quite a bit to move back up...but I love the Packers picks today.

Off the top of my head I'd say Patriots, Eagles, Ravens abd Giants (maybe bit of a homer pick) did well today, probably in that order.

I like CIN's start to this draft. Andre Smith and Maualuga.
:( Maualuga gives the Bengals a defensive game-changer like they have never had before. This might be the best draft pick in franchise history.
Great value pick and I was (kinda) hoping the Giants would move up to grab him and was thinking about mentioning the Bengals and a top drafting team based on this pick but at what point do the Bengals learn anything from their history and take character concerns into account at all?

I know I'm a homer here, but I think the Rams should get some serious consideration. They lose an all-time left tackle, but replace him with Jason Smith. They have needed a high motor middle linebacker since London Fletcher left and they finally got one with Road Warrior Animal Jr. LT and MLB were two of the Rams three big needs (the other being WR) and they took care of it.

I think the Rams will likely target a WR right off the bat in the third round. I like Jarrett Dillard for their 3rd rounder. He doesn't have top-end speed, but his reliable hands and crisp route running will make a perfect compliment to the speed burner Donnie Avery. Yeah, he could be taller, but a 42 inch vertical helps compensate for that.

Posts are spot on so far

Jags

Lions

Skins

Pats

Rams

Cinci
Why are the Skins on here? Because they didnt' screw it up like usual? I don't see it.

I'd add NE or the Rams instead of the Skins. Rams FO seems to have finally "got it". LT and MLB--no FBs or back to back TEs, congrats.

Best draft - Eagles and Bills

Best value pick - 49ers and Ravens

Worst draft - Raiders (Feel sorry for their fans right now)

Worth pick - Raiders (Both)

The Rams FO that is running the show is radically different than in past years. Billy Deveany is a guy who's quickly earning my respect.

Can't believe there isn't more love for the Packers Day One. Give Dom Capers those two guys and no one thinks it worthwhile? That's quite a haul for the 3-4 defense. Are people turned off by the cost of that trade up? It can't because of all the great talent sitting there in round 3. This isn't a deep draft. Just doing my part as a homer.

I'm not a Lions fan, but it's nice to see a Lions fan that isn't hellbent on them getting their "franchise" LT in this draft. On day one, they came away with a potential franchise QB, the consensus top TE in the draft who has been compared Jason Witten, and the consensus top S in the draft who has been compared to Bob Sanders.

I think CIN and NE had the best drafts so far. I also really like the Giants picks of Beatty (great value) and Sintim, but I would have prefered Britt over Nicks. JAX really solidified the o-line for the long term. I like their draft so far.

Homer pick here for the Colts. 2 glaring needs met with 2 excellent picks.

I also have to love Cincy's, NE's, the Rams' and the Lions'.

Ravens and Skins. No way on the Vikings. Harvin is a complete waste.Pats are runners-up with Detroit in doing the least with the most. Lots of opportunity, but less to show from it than would be expected.Eages, Bengals, and Jags get B+ grades, but not A grades.

Even if I'm biased, I couldn't disagree more on the Pats doing little with a lot of opportunity. This is a weak draft talent-wise and I loved that New England traded down to get cheaper players that fit their system. That way they save cap and get picks for later acquisitons and ensure that they have more fire-power in 2010 when the draft is bound to have better prospect.Chung is the hard hitter and fiery competitior they severely needed back there. Ron Brace is another big body and protection if they can't re-sign Vince Wilfork next year. The pick that stands out the most though is Darius Butler, I think this kid will be great in the Patriots system and he'll get to learn the ropes from Shawn Springs. :goodposting: I somehow question the pick of Vollmer (with William Beatty being available) since I don't know much about the kid, but I guess BB wanted a right tackle more than a left tackle. What they haven't got yet is more help at linebacker but it's not over just yet!

I like several of the teams already mentioned here. I also think the 49ers did pretty good even if they only drafted one player. That player, WR Michael Crabtree, was a blessing to fall to them at #10 and will be their #1 guy for years to come. Plus, they ended up getting a 2010 first round pickfrom Carolina for their second round pick which Carolina took Evertte Brown by moving up. If even the Carolina 2010 pick ends up being a late first rounder the Niners can use 1 of their two picks to get their franchise QB, not sold on Smith or Hill, if there's one that fits that category in next year's draft.

WR Crabtree

RB Coffee

LB McKillop

QB Davis

TE Pascoe

FS Taylor

DT Jean-Francois

Overall- B+
