THE UNDERCOVER BROTHA
Footballguy
I have no idea who it is.
If it's LJ you mean, then Q-dog is the "main" backup. However, I do believe they have 2 other guys they got via draft and UDFA pool...can't remember their names at the moment.Agreed(psst...change the title)I have no idea who it is.
Uhhhhh - there is this one guy named Priest Holmes still on the roster. You may have heard of him here & there. I would suspect he'd go into the game before Q-speed bump ever would. If it's LJ you mean, then Q-dog is the "main" backup.Agreed(psst...change the title)I have no idea who it is.

Holmes could lose a leg and still be a better RB than Griffin. Dee Brown is the question mark, but I don't expect that barring catastrophic injuries that we'll ever find out how he'd perform in extended duty in KC.Thanks to the title change this thread is now slightly less nonsensical than it was before. Holmes is still the backup until proven otherwise.
Howard had UDFA offers from nine teams and picked the chiefs because he thought their system was best suited for his style.definitely keep an eye on him.de'arrius Howard will have a shot to back him up I believe.
I agree with this man.de'arrius Howard will have a shot to back him up I believe.
The only thing Q-Dog can back up is his toilet, with the crap that is his game.If it's LJ you mean, then Q-dog is the "main" backup. Last I heard, Holmes was not medically cleared to play and the team was preparing for life without him. This is not to say that he won't be back, only that he's not ready to go and there are still a ton of questions on if he'll be willing and able to play again. Thanks to the title change this thread is now slightly less nonsensical than it was before. Holmes is still the backup until proven otherwise.

Uhhhhh - here IN KC, no one expects Priest to be back. The guy has been at his home in Texas since the end of last season. He still hasn't been cleared medically to play. He's kinda been a ghost. I hope no one is hanging their hopes on Priest coming back. Cut the cord and move on.Uhhhhh - there is this one guy named Priest Holmes still on the roster. You may have heard of him here & there. Is he ever around in the offseason??? I always thought he stayed away....I'm really not sure, would love to hear from some KC owners.......Uhhhhh - here IN KC, no one expects Priest to be back. Howard as mentioned and Derrick Ross is the other. So far it's been hard to find any information on the competition, but there have been comments that Ross is one of few who've stood out at any position.I do believe they have 2 other guys they got via draft and UDFA pool...can't remember their names at the moment.

Priest Holmes - #31 - Running back - 5'9" - 213lbs
News: Priest Holmes will not attend Kansas City's upcoming minicamp.
Impact: Holmes hasn't been medically cleared and his status for 2006 remains highly in doubt. "People can interpret what they want. But until you hear it from Priest Holmes that he's not going to play, in my mind, he's playing," coach Herm Edwards said. (Fri. May 5, 2006)

Priest Holmes - #31 - Running back - 5'9" - 213lbs
News: Chiefs coach Herm Edwards spoke with Priest Holmes recently and believes he'll return to Kansas City.
Impact: It looks like Holmes is probably coming back, after all. At least the Chiefs believe so. ";I would say probably after the draft or so I wouldn't be surprised to see him in here,"; Edwards said. Holmes figures to be the best backup in football as long as he stays healthy. (Thu. Apr 27, 2006)
Priest Holmes - #31 - Running back - 5'9" - 213lbs
News: Chiefs GM Carl Peterson says doctor's haven't cleared Priest Holmes to play again, but he's counting on him to play in 2006.
Impact: Huh? Holmes hasn't said much on the subject this offseason. "If we had to start today, right now, the doctor would not clear him for contact," Peterson said. "But we don't have to start today." Holmes would backup Larry Johnson if he plays. (Fri. Apr 21, 2006)
Excuse me for seeming skeptical, but I got roundly scorched a couple of years ago the season after Holmes got hurt late in the previous season against DEN and a lot of people here acted as though Holmes' career was over, while Holmes worked out away from KC & showed up in great shape (after staying away & rehabbing by pulling tractors & such) & turned in a stellar season.I think I'll give Holmes the benefit of the doubt - like his Owner & HC - until I hear otherwise.Nothing like two week old info (atleast). All I'm saying is everyone that calls into the sports radio shows here in KC and all the reporters that cover the Chiefs are all singing the same tune. They don't expect him to come back. Normally the guy pops up and makes some appearances and stuff like that but he hasn't even done that. Like I said...it's as if he's "moved on".

Well, if the sports radio show callers don't think he'll be back, it must be a done deal.Nothing like two week old info (atleast)Really? It has just seemed eerily quiet around here when it comes to Priest. Also, I believe the year you are talking about is when he got his big pay raise and the Chiefs finally paid him almost like one of the top backs in the league. Now that he got his payday, and with his age and with the recent injuries...I just got that gut feeling that he isn't as motivated to come back. It's almost as if people have forgotten about him since LJ came on so strong.Excuse me for seeming skeptical, but I got roundly scorched a couple of years ago the season after Holmes got hurt late in the previous season against DEN and a lot of people here acted as though Holmes' career was over, while Holmes worked out away from KC & showed up in great shape (after staying away & rehabbing by pulling tractors & such) & turned in a stellar season.I think I'll give Holmes the benefit of the doubt - like his Owner & HC - until I hear otherwise.Nothing like two week old info (atleast). Just to be clear - I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm just saying that both his HC & GM have stated in the past month that they are expecting him back, and based upon his past history I'm not counting him out until he offically retires or makes a public statement that he's done.It has just seemed eerily quiet around here when it comes to Priest. There hasn't been any news since then. What PonyBoy posted is the most recent news there is.Nothing like two week old info (atleast).
You might be right about what the fans expect. But is there any reason to think that the fans are better informed than Herm Edwards or Carl Peterson?I think the only solid conclusion we can reach for now is that Holmes' future is uncertain. I wouldn't count him out, but I wouldn't count him in, either. All I'm saying is everyone that calls into the sports radio shows here in KC and all the reporters that cover the Chiefs are all singing the same tune. There's a little blurb to that affect near the bottom of this article. It's just referring to udfa tryouts though. There was a report on a message board from a camp watcher saying Ross looked good, then he was finally signed today, or late yesterday.Linky?Howard as mentioned and Derrick Ross is the other. So far it's been hard to find any information on the competition, but there have been comments that Ross is one of few who've stood out at any position.I do believe they have 2 other guys they got via draft and UDFA pool...can't remember their names at the moment.
I realize it was from February 28th of this year, and the following link is not where I originally read it, but here is an excerpt."He hasn't been carrying on as if he was going to play," Holmes' stepfather, Herman Morris, said. "Normally, he would be in the gym working out and have a routine going on. Right now, he seems to be laid back and relaxed and not wanting to think about it."Just to be clear - I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm just saying that both his HC & GM have stated in the past month that they are expecting him back, and based upon his past history I'm not counting him out until he offically retires or makes a public statement that he's done.It has just seemed eerily quiet around here when it comes to Priest. Drafting Howard has a way of altering one's perspective. Howard will be lucky to make the team.I agree with this man.de'arrius Howard will have a shot to back him up I believe.

Sounds like a repeat of Walter Reyes and the Titans last year. (Except he had 10 teams vying for his services)Howard had UDFA offers from nine teams and picked the chiefs because he thought their system was best suited for his style.
definitely keep an eye on him.
Sure, but he's a no risk guy to carry while most dynasty relax roster limits. You wait and see if he makes the team, and drop him if he doesnt.Sounds like a repeat of Walter Reyes and the Titans last year. Apparently the staff here seem to think Priest is done as well. Check out their RB projections. Big fat zeros for the Priest. There hasn't been any news since then. What PonyBoy posted is the most recent news there is.Nothing like two week old info (atleast).

That won't fly for those of us drafting now. I've taken the position that he won't be back and see more value in Griffin than Holmes. I could be wrong, but in order to make a draft board I have to draw conclusions. There hasn't been any news since then. What PonyBoy posted is the most recent news there is.Nothing like two week old info (atleast).

Larry Johnson's back up is Larry Johnson. If he gets hurt, he'll sit out a play or two while he sheds his skin and the other Johnson emerges. The back up Johnson is slightly smaller but even more angry![]()
Well put.But we can figure it's either Priest or Quentin Griffin. If anyone thinks they know the answer to this question in May, they are a ####.
