Who is the Next Michael Turner? (1 Viewer)

Michael Robinson is my SWAG, though surely he lacks Turner's speed.

Damn, I forgot all about him, and I have him rostered on two teams.
LOL...I have him on both of my teams too.Perry just needs to have a healthy productive season. It could happen.Leon Washington might be a good one. He's ( Leon owner bias) Tiki like. Greg Jones? Could be had cheap. Long shot sure, but the payoff would be high. I think if guys like Mike Bush and Brandon Jacobs have some success, teams may look at Greg a little closer.Mike Robinson is also on this list.

I'm not sure what the non-poll is about.

Is it:

1. Who's the best back-up RB?

2. Who's the hot commodity overly hyped RB?

3. Who's the next restricted free agent getting noticed during a bad RB free agency?

4. Who's a low round drafted RB that may end up doing better on another team?

5. Who's a RB playing second fiddle behind a stud?

I think Michael Robinson has a chance to develop into a solid RB; just needs a bit more time.

I think Morency has a shot this year. I haven't seen enough of him to make a judgment though. I saw a couple of Packers games last year, and he looked solid spelling Green... but I don't know if he can be an every down RB, maybe at least a productive member of a RBBC.

I'm really confused at where some of the Michael Robinson speculations are coming from. I'd like to see a hell of a lot more from him before I throw him into this conversation. With the exception of an early 5-29 yards, 2 TD performance against Philly, he really didn't do anything. Hell, even Maurice Hicks outperformed him the second half of the season. Unless Gore gets injured, I really don't see him getting a chance to raise his stock before becoming a free agent.

Leon Washington is a good choice here. I'm interested in seeing how Mangini uses him this year with TJones though. The thing with Leon is, he's really not sitting behind a "stud" like Turner is. He could very well be a major part of that offense for the next few years, and therefore might not get a chance elsewhere after his initial contract is up.

Being a huge UM fan, I've been waiting for Perry to break out. Injuries have just killed him though, but I think he'll have enough recognition to get a decent chance somewhere down the road.

Damn, I forgot all about him, and I have him rostered on two teams.ETA: BUT, Perry arrived with a first round pedigree, unlike Turner or Robinson. Still, I think the pedigree has nearly worn off, so he fits.
Im sorry the first round pedigree in my opinion is just BS. Take a look at Draftscout.com the reason Turner who was a big success in the college ranks did not receive a first round grade: Limited catches out of the backfield and the perception that a 5.10' 235 pound man is a tub of lard. We all know the hype on these big school players. The reason WR D Jarret will be picked up this year before Jason Hill is because USC is a big program. I think Hill will have a far more productive career, by far.

I was going to post almost this exact same thing. Can we make sure that the first Michael Turner is even worth asking this question before trying to find the next one?(btw, it's Morency  )

Turner is already worth asking this question if you're selling. What he does from this point forward is relatively moot, if you're trading him away.Morency may start this year, how can he be the next backup turned hot FF commodity?I was about to ask how often there is a player like Turner, but with Jordan, CTaylor, and a few others throughout the years, it happens more than I would have thought.

Doesn't look like this site is available.

6. Who is the stud RB sleeper that Riffraff can't pry for cheap in his leagues?

Peterson is a nice call, he's always looked just as good as Benson when he's had the chance to tote the rock. I just don't understand why he signed a long term deal so cheap last year (cough Betts cough)

Perry would be a good call, except I want to actually see him on the field - his injury (ankle/broken leg) is grisly and the kind that sometimes leaves players never quite the same.

Speaking of leg injuries that leave a guy not quite the same, another decent longshot if he ever gets a true audition is Musa Smith.

We already know Ricky is good, and just maybe he has a year or two left in the tank.

Some other talented (to at least some extent) guys to keep tabs on:

Jerome Harrison, CLE

Chris Taylor, HOU

Andre Hall, DEN

Ryan Moats, PHI (he needs a change of scenery)

Exactly, you guys who are trying to turn this into a "will Turner be good or not" thread are missing the point. If you can acquire the running backs cheap now that will raise to this kind of value then that's all you need. Whether you like them or not it's all about perceived value, trading power, and improving team quality.Michael Robinson is that kind of a player with portential because of Gore's injury history mostly. Gores contract is starter worthy and enough buzz isn't around Robinson yet to make him a guy NFL teams want to trade for. Robinson is a ways off from getting a bump in value unless Gore goes down. Norwood isn't under the radar, and it will cost something to pry him away, but he's a few articles and a great preseason this year from jumping up into Turners realm and he doesn't need a change of venue to realize it since he's the hier apparent to Dunn. Right now people are at least projecting Atlanta to draft a big back so I think now's as good a time as any to try and get him. Perry's far under the radar for initial dynasty drafts and it's for good reason, but he's good, and will be at least a great running back by committee guy. His contract should be running up soon and a change of venue would pay huge dividends. Definitely a guy to have.I'm a fan of Morency's potential as well.

good point... changes the lighting for me... i want it to be brandon jacobs, don't own him, but deserves a shot... Mike Bell might fit this role, if henry missteps

A very fair point.

What about Anthony Thomas? Pending some move by the Bills, he is a starting RB.
All depends on who they bring in. But yes, he's currently the starter.

Dope can verify this one - I've not inquired into Mr. Turner's services in our dynasty league.
Truth. He has not tried to get Michael Turner from me.(He's trying to get my 1.02 AND my 1st rounder next year) :loco:
