Who is the Saints RB to own for the FF Playoffs? (1 Viewer)

I feel like Bush is the safest bet, but I think either Thomas or Ivory will outperform him -- it's just a matter of which one....

Anyone have strong feelings on this one one way or another?

How can anyone call this right now? You have one healthy RB in Ivory, until the others get on the field you have to go with him. But I would get Bush just in case.

After last night, I'm thinking (Week 14-16 ranking of NO RBs):

1. R Bush -- Almost a lock for 30-40 yards rushing and 40-60 yards receiving with a 50-50 chance of a TD

1a. P Thomas -- Higher risk/Higher reward than Bush -- not a lock to be in the mix at all, but if is, has a ceiling of ~100 yards rushing, ~50 yards receiving and ~1 TD; maybe he shares carries with Ivory and ends up with 30-40 yards rushing, 0 receiving and maybe 20% chance of TD; or worst case, maybe he's still out with injury or on IR

3. C Ivory -- See P Thomas. Prior to last night's game I had these two about even because I get a vibe that Thomas is in coach's dog house and/or his injury may be more severe than people think. But now, after another mediocre performance by Ivory, I'm thinking that if Thomas is healthy, Ivory is going to be back to the bench full time...

So I guess the bottom line is if you want a sure bet of 30-40 yards rushing and 40-60 yards receiving with a 50-50 chance of a TD -- go with Bush.

If you want some potential upside to more than that then it comes down to how likely is Pierre Thomas to be healthy by week 14. My gut tells me it's about 60-65%, but that's not based on really anything. I haven't heard any real useful news out of New Orleans on this situation. I've heard that there's actually still a chance he goes on IR at some point??

Has anyone heard any more concrete news on Thomas?

Obviously, we don't know for sure -- if we did, these guys wouldn't be on anyone's waiver wire. In some smaller leagues you've got a mix of these three guys available.

Ivory was injured in last nights game. Sean Payton mentioned it when asked in his post game press conference why the Saints had used Betts and Jones late in the game and Ivory was no where to be found. I am not sure the extent of the injury however. That wasnt disclosed.

What makes you think that NOR is going to even have a decent running game this year? They have had 1 in 8 games, and that includes when Thomas and Bush were healthy. Me thinks that they are having o-line problems ala 2009 Pittsburgh Steelers.

it's a crapshoot. Thomas, Bush, Ivory, Jones, and Betts all in the mix at this point, with no known carry ratios going forward. if all were healthy, I would put a guess at 50% Pierre, 30% Reggie, and 20% Ivory.

but who knows...

from the Times-Pic this afternoon:
Payton was also vague on the status of cornerback Patrick Robinson, who suffered an ankle injury during Sunday night's victory. He said the team will "just keep monitoring" Robinson's progress.

He did, however, say that tailback Chris Ivory is expected to be fine this week after suffering a "mild" concussion Sunday night.
