Who is your WR3 and are you happy with him? (1 Viewer)

I always get a tension headache thinking about this position. It's the one I tinker with the most.

This season I have Amendola who I hope gets a lot of redzone targets again but converts more this season. Nothing satisfies me more than getting production from my WR3, I expect it from the others.

Did a draft Tuesday evening in a 12 team PPR and I have White, Welker and Lloyd as my WR3. Looks good on paper before the season starts anyway.

Kenny Britt. Meh.

Two schools of thought on WR3. You're either the type of guy who wants someone CONSISTENT who will give you a guarantees few points every game, or you're looking for the guy who is EXPLOSIVE who might put up an awesome game (but will definitely have some clunkers).

I'll take a risk with the WR3. Britt, Lee Evans and Robert Meachem were my target WR3s/WR4s this year (though Britt's ADP has improved considerably since I drafted him).

We'll see.

Steve Smith (Carolina) behind Calvin & Tampa Mike.... No...not happy at all, so hoping a late flier pans out.

Britt has WR1 capabilities - if he didnt have the hammy issue I'd say he is at least a WR2 . . . he is my WR2 and I feel good about him . . .

Drafted both leagues this past 3 days.

#1-Fitz (#24), Holmes (#72), Britt (#96) Very comfortable

#2-TBMike (#48), Manningham (#72), Ocho (#84) Very uneasy. Will be watching for that magical WW WR early on here. At least I don't HAVE to start Ocho as only 2 are required. A flex is used where a RB/WR/TE can be that starter.

Santonio Holmes in my 10-team PPR and Kenny Britt in my 10-team non-PPR. Very happy with both but worried about depth (only Julio Jones on the bench in the PPR, Sidney Rice and Meachem on the bench in the other). Gonna have to be quick on the waiver wire in both leagues.

Y'all are some greedy gentlemen. Britt isn't a good enough 3rd WR for you? Anyone at all behind Calvin and Mike Williams isn't good enough? Yeesh.

Austin, dez and Britt as my number 3.

From what others are saying, I'm ok with him. I like Hasselbeck to at least get him the ball.

In my main league, a Mike Thomas/Lance Moore platoon. I'll know in about a month how happy I am with it. For now, I'm fine with it.

In my less competitive leagues, Austin and Holmes.

Harvin in my 10 team (not ideal in a 10 team league, but I have AJ and Fitz as 1-2), Dez Bryant in my 12 team, Boldin/Britt as a tossup in my 14 team.

I'm pretty happy with my WR corps in all of my leagues. My QBs on the other hand...

Sidney Rice in my Redraft league, Harvin/S. Johnson/Marshall are my top 3 receivers in dynasty league, not sure which one is considered my worst. I feel solid about Rice, since the rest of my team holds up well right now whether or not my WR3 does awesome. What I'm more concerned about is in dynasty where those three guys, along with Gates, have to pretty much carry my offense. Out of those three, I am most concerned about S. Johnson.

You guys are sporting some sweet WR3! Must not be deep leagues.
Yea...some of this is deceptive. Most of these guys with good WR3 and slim at RB I bet.I'm thinking the OP is weaker at WR because he went RB heavy early on...hence the point of the post.If you have Manningham, Santana Moss or Britt...well that's pretty much a WR2 in your WR3 spot.Where you have a problem, like the OP, myself and some others, is when u built up RBs and your WR3 is someone like Sidney Rice, Ochocinco, Mike Thomas, Jacoby Ford, Lance Moore, the rookies...etc. If you have any one from this group on down, you are likely not feeling to comfortable. I had Malcolm Floyd, dropped him for Braylon Edwards, and am leaning very much towards dropping Edwards for Meachem....and no I am not pleased. Going to have to hope Nicks and Steve Johnson live up to their potential/projections.I agree with the poster that said you either go with the feast/famine guy...a la Meachem who will get you 4 points or less one week and 20+ the next. Or the more reliable/consistent guy who will get you 6 catches for 70 yards and the occassional TD guy... a la Edwards.

Nicks. Lloyd and Collie for me. With the latest news on Manning, I am less and less happy with Collie. Also have AJ Green, Moore and a few later round guys (Roberts, D. Moore).

In a 12-team league or larger, you're going to have a weakness somewhere (at least on paper, before the season starts and we see what we see). If you don't, you should find a tougher league. WR3 is probably the least worrisome place to be a little soft, especially if it's any sort of PPR. Obviously this goes out the window in dynasty, which explains some of the ridiculous setups in this thread. In my 14-team keeper, I've got Mike Thomas as WR3, but we only start 2, so he'll probably only see the lineup a handful of times. In my 20-team keeper (!) where we play 3 WR/TE and have an additional superflex, it's Lance Moore or Rob Gronkowski depending on the matchup, which ain't bad since a minimum of 60 WR/TEs go every week. In my 12 team redraft, I took WRs in rounds 2-4 and ended up with Tampa Mike as my #3. Reasonably happy with all those setups.

In one league (12 team PPR redraft) I'm rocking AJ Green/J. Ford combo at WR3/WR4 behind Marshall and Mike Williams... Not crazy about it but the upside is definitely there, and that's what I like in my WR3. I also have Steve Smith (PHI) stashed on my bench as a nice little sleeper.

In my second league (also a 12 team PPR) I have Santana Moss followed by Amendola and Scrubtree. I love Santana and Amendola in PPR this year and Scrubtree is close to being released. Currently flexing Amendola and Shonn Greene for what it's worth.

In my most competitive money league (a 10 man .75 ppr redraft). I'm pretty loaded at WR I've got Roddy White, Dez, Lloyd and Britt... Only start 2 Wrs in that league so the second spot is going to be a predicament every week. Starting Lloyd along with Roddy obviously in week 1.

Knox/Decker

Amendola/Burleson

Green/Burleson

Mike Thomas

Manningham (early draft when Smith was still on the team)

My #3 is Kenny Britt who is behind AJ and Mile Austin. I am not feeling 100% great about him but for a #3 thats not too bad if he stays out of trouble.

League 1 - about ten years or longer in existence, Lloyd as WR3 (Dez and S Johnson as WR1 and 2) very comfortable.

League 2 - phenoms redraft ppr - Sidney Rice (Bryant and Lloyd as WR1 and 2), iffy and started Meachem this year. Actually more confident in S Johnson than Bryant accounting for difference between the two leagues. Rice really bothers me as a pick until Seattle gets its QB act together.

Not really sure who'd I'd say is my WR3 right now.

Wayne

S. Johnson

M. Williams, TB

Sims-Walker

AJ Green

Massaquoi
