Who loves Josh Freeman this year? (1 Viewer)

As a guy who is getting drafted in the middle of fantasy drafts, I think this dude will be the steal for qbs this year. I have not watched him too closley the last few years, but his stats really stick out:

[*]Big improvement from 1st to 2nd year

[*]6'6 250 lbs, 23 years old

[*]25 tds 6 picks, has ability to run

[*]Led an inexperienced team to 10 wins

[*]Said inexperienced team will be forced to spend a little money, so he might have some more weapons.

For those of us who do not enjoy burning a 1st to fifth round pick on a qb, I think this is the guy.

I like his upside a lot this year. They have young weapons. Like you said, made great strides last year. I was really impressed with how he was able to win games ...only 6 int last year? over 7 y/a? 61% accuracy? in his second year!?! He will be an undervalued bargain. Also notice his rushing attempts and yards were comparable to Aaron Rodgers last year...If he converts any of those runs to touchdowns...he can reach tier 1 status EASILY.

its risky but i'm thinking of going freeman and bradford this year. could be incredibly average or i could end up with 2 of the 3 breakout qbs.

i am a huge freeman fan and thought he was great last year. kid is the real deal

Freeman is a decent option if you wait on QB.....like his upside way more than say Matt Ryan or Joe Flacco.......pairing him with a Bradford or a Stafford could be a winning ticket.

What I like about Freeman is that he looks like he will always get extra stats on the ground.....300 yards and couple of rushing TDs....that helps his value a lot.

The problem is that the secret has been out since the middle of last year. He's already rising up the draft charts and he'll be a 4th round pick by the end of next month.

But yeah, I love his potential this year. I wouldn't hesitate to grab him in the 5th round and I might even go higher for him.

And worth pointing out that Freeman did that while being the youngest starting QB in the NFL last year (among QBs with at least 8 starts).

I think they take a huge step back without a last place schedule. I like Freeman but I think he's in a bad spot this year.

This is a misconception. The difference between a "last place" schedule and a "first place" schedule is really only 2 games. You play your entire division twice, each team from an AFC and an NFC division once...and then 1 game against a team from the other two divisions within your conference based on the order you finished in your division. Actually, if you factor in the fact that the first place team gets 2 games against the worst team from their own division in addition to the first place team from each of the other NFC divisions while the last place team gets 2 games against the best team from their own division in addition to the last place team from each of the other NFC divisions...the schedule difference is pretty moot. That being said, the divisions you play have a big impact (in addition to how much the teams in your own division improve).NFC North >>> NFC WestAFC East = AFC North (or at least they are darn close)2011 San Francisco = 2010 Detroit2011 Dallas >> 2010 WashingtonSo really the difference here comes down to 4 games...Green Bay, Chicago, Minnesota, and Dallas (2011) vs. Seattle, Arizona, St. Louis, and Washington (2010).I'll give you the fact that the 2011 schedule is more difficult than the 2010 schedule...but enough to be the lone cause of a "huge step back?" Sorry, not sold. I can see them taking a step back but more likely due to inexperience and lack of preparation this year than the schedule. Just my opinion.

Well put.

He finished QB7 last year, but was behind the likes of Orton, Big Ben, and Romo in ppg so that finish is a bit deceiving. His real merit last year was in the bonus rushing yds and the unlikely-to-repeat 25:6 TD:INT. I'm not sure I want to count on either next year. At QB11, I don't think he presents great value. If the defense improves along with the running game, he won't be worth that draft pick. He's not a terrible buy at that price, but I'd rather wait on someone like Cutler or Fitzpatrick if I can't get Big Ben at QB10. Huge drop off from 10 to 11, IMO.

I like him if he goes in the 6th or 7th (2qb leagues). If he goes in the 3rd or 4th, I'm a little hesitant. High risk/high reward in the sense that he's young and shown good stuff last year. Can he repeat? Will be a make or break pick for a lot of owners that gamble on him high.
