I included every coach of a team currently over .500.

For me, it's a close call between Reid, Arians and Bowles.

Belichick could really win it every year, but I think their average record since really getting hit with injuries takes a little of the shine off of his resume for winning this year (but not his greatness as a head coach).

Can't forget Rivera, of the 14-1 Panthers, but Carolina seems more like an 11-5 squad that has squeezed out a bunch of narrow wins, some of which would normally not go their way.

Back to the first three, we cannot forget the 1-5 start by the Chiefs, but getting them to win 9 straight after that start and without their best player (Charles) is pretty darn special.

Arians is coaching at the highest level right now. The Cardinals are great everywhere.

Bowles took a team thought to have an offense that would be lucky to be average and turned them into a really good, while staying great on D. Great job.

Hard to pick just one, but I guess I will go with Arians.

Marvin Lewis has done a great job this year, as well.

McCarthy and Quinn should be chucked from this last, but their teams do have winning records, so there they are.

Kubiak has been really good, getting the team to 11-4 with all of that offensive turmoil, but he's not coach of the year material.

Carroll has done a nice job lately getting the team back on the right track, but they have still underachieved this year based off of expectations.

Bill O'Brien gets no comment from me. Same for Jay Gruden. Congrats on winning ####ty divisions.

Mike Zimmer has done a really good job, and last but not least, Mike Tomlin did his usual up and down act: kept the team winning and afloat without Ben for a while, but he has some inexplicable losses in games where it looked like he didn't have the team ready to play.

I like Bowles, good coach but the 6'4 230 pound wideout they signed has more to do with offense being good than anything he has done.

Leaning Arians. They've played consistently well, despite a rash of injuries at RB, and used an unorthodox def to cover for LB problems.

Gruden deserves some respect. Washington has been very injured, wasn't a great team to start with, and made the playoffs, albeit in a weak conference.

Rivera easily. The guy loses his #1 WR in preseason and goes on to coach a 14-1 team?

Give it to him.

This is my second place finisher. He's done a hell of a job there. Hired the right o-coordinator and personal for his system, and did a bang up job with the defense.

The Jets could have been a disaster this year. Many thought they'd be 3rd in the AFC East and a year away from contention. Now they're the darling underdog pick to go deep in the playoffs.

Voted Arians over Rivera because I think he's the best coach in the league. You can make a strong case for RR but to me it all sounds like the case for Cam as MVP.

Surprised there isn't more support for Reid. Doesn't seem like it's common for a team to start 1-5, lose it's All Pro RB, and reel off 9 straight Ws.

Another vote for Arians. The Cardinals are the odds on favorite to win it all and he's built a powerhouse in all phases of the game. Well coached, aggressive, fun team to watch. I don't think anyone else is close.

A great crop this year.

I go:

  1. Rivera
  2. Arians
  3. Bowles
All 3 are very worthy, though I think it'll come down to just the top 2.

The MVP of the league might be the dude who coldcocked Geno Smith.

I forgot all about him.

Strong candidate, definitely.

Don't forget the panthers were without Kuechley for a few games when the defense continued to perform. Plus that he and Mike Shula worked the offense to utilize cam's strength instead of trying to force him to conform helps a lot. The good coaches do that, they did it better than almost anyone. Rivera

Arians

Bowles, Zimmer and Reid

Eta: Lewis and Belichick deserve credit too, just a bit less than these 5.
