Quick notes

* Non-PPR with 20 rounds to the draft

* Whomever is protected this year will be a free agent next year.

* Each team can only protect one player, the cost being a pick the round before that player was drafted last year.

* My best guesses as to who other teams are protecting are;

Todd Gurley (1.10)

Alvin Kamara (17.05)

Raiders D/ST (18.06)

De'Andre Hopkins (2.05)

Deshawn Watson (16.11)

Patrick Mahomes (19.12)

Kareem Hunt (4.02)

Alex Smith (17.05)

Dion Lewis (9.03)

Julian Edelman (19.04)

Also, I am really considering Mixon vs Ertz but included Ben because someone recommended I keep him, and put the Rams D in there as a cheap option.

TIA

ETA - 12 team, no flex.  1 QB 2 RB 2 WR 1 TE 1 K 1 D/ST

Never keep a D/ST in a one keeper league.  It will never be worth it.

Too many good QB's out there to waste a freeze on Big Ben so cross him off the list.  That means it's down to Mixon/Ertz.  Both are decent values so it really comes down to who you think is the highest upside guy.  To me that is Mixon (although he has the lowest floor too).  Go with Mixon if you want the upside or go with Ertz if you want the better floor.

This and I like to gamble on my keepers so I would go Mixon

Gally has a good answer and I think I would protect Ertz.  Mixon and Ertz have a similar ADP right now (on ESPN) so why not use the 9th round instead of the 5th round.  So basically my calculation is: Ertz + 5.9 > Mixon + 9.9

Thanks for the feedback.  Seems you all agree that it's a very tight one between Mixon and Ertz with the other choices not worthy of consideration.  I have to decide in a week, so I'll listen to more or further argument.

Also agree on Mixon. It's between him and Ertz. You're still getting good value on Mixon - he's a late 2nd round re-draft pick. Ertz may offer a little more value but keeping the higher rated player in Mixon trumps the little extra value you get from Ertz in this case.

Voted Ertz just because he's 4 rounds cheaper than Mixon.  Ertz should be top 3 at TE again this year, at a position that is very hit/miss week to week he's one of the few that offers stability.  There's 10 guys who can duplicate what Mixon will do
