Which player will be the next Anquan Boldin? Somone who comes out of nowhere to be a fantasy stud? Who will everyone be scrambling to the WW to make a claim for?

Stokley / Jerramy Stevens looks like cream... Lamar Gordon like you need to know that...Jerry Rice has big upside I think at least...Charlie Garner could repeat his 2year old boom

I see two different interpretations of your post.Who will be the big waiver wire pick-up this week, regardless of whether he goes on to be a stud, or who will be the big waiver wire pick-up this week that will go on to be stud this year. Before I answer this, can I suggest (as I'm sure many have before me) that the term stud is so overused by now that it's lost all meaning. When the experts advise not to sit your studs, they're not referring to R. Wayne. Anyway, back to topic. I'm sure there will be people overreacting to many a week 1 breakout, but I'll say it will be a San Fran WR, either Woods or Wilson. Neither will go on to star status this year.If I have to predict a player who will surprise this week and then maintain at least decent status this year, I'll go with Gabriel.

I'm going to second Burleson (not because of his work at the goal line). He'll catch a bomb for a td and finish the day with over a hundred yards. He will be picked up in every league he is available and have maybe two more strong games all year.

Burleson just shouldn't be available.

Bobby Wade. Though many may not jump on him this week, he will be on a roster in every league very soon. IMO, this time next year Wade will have Steve Smith type status. For the record, though, I seriously doubt any unknown player, at any position, will put up numbers in the same league of what Boldin did last year. That was an anomoly not often witnessed in the NFL.

I'll cast my vote for Jeb Putzier, since that's the 16th rounder I dropped this week to nab Gordon. With KC in town and a high-scoring game likely, I see a coming-out party for Denver's new pass-catching TE.

Depending on when you drafted and when waivers start for you, Lamar Gordon. Not often you can find a starting RB off waivers.

my 1 fantasy league has a large bench and im sitting on Rice, Lelie, Watts, Burleson, Ro Williams, and Pinkston with hopes they will make, at the very least, a strong #4 so this thread is making me feel all warm inside... :excited: :Dalso keeping a close eye on Colbert, Parker and Gage as well

Darrius Watts. It won't take long before people start to realize that Rod Smith doesn't have it anymore and that Lelie is never going to step up and realize his potential. I like Watts a lot.

It's a sad day in Miami when the 3rd string back for Minnesota has better season fantasy stats then the Dolphins starter.Write it down.Edited to clarify that I mean for the entire season not just one game.

Anyone who comes here often should have already taken a flyer on Burleson, we've known for a while now that Robinson was bumped to #3.Same with Watts and more recently Parker. I have those guys stashed away where I've been able to pick up already, and will be attemping to do so when waivers start next week in my other league. My .02 anyways... :football:

Bryant Johnson.
 I hope so, I took a flier on him in the last round of my draft. Denny Green's deep threat who will see lots of signle coverage due to Fitz getting all the attention could have some major value. And if hes playing good when Boldin comes back......you see where Im going with this....

In some leagues, even the backup RBs are all on fantasy teams already (I'm in a couple of 14-team, start up to 4 RB including flex leagues). Assuming we're not talking about one of those type leagues, the top WW pickup is likely to be the backup RB for whatever starter goes out for any great length of time this weekend with an injury.

Jeb Putzier. Once the Broncos start hitting him 3-5 times a game, he becomes a hot commodity in TE required leagues.2003 Denver TE's: | Dwayne Carswell | 16 | 6 53 8.8 1 || Jeb Putzier | 4 | 4 34 8.5 0 || Shannon Sharpe | 15 | 62 770 12.4 8 |2002| Dwayne Carswell | 14 | 21 189 9.0 1 || Shannon Sharpe | 12 | 61 686 11.2 3 |2001| Dwayne Carswell | 16 | 34 299 8.8 4 || Desmond Clark | 16 | 51 566 11.1 6 || Matt Dominguez | 12 | 3 26 8.7 0 |2000| Dwayne Carswell | 15 | 49 495 10.1 3 || Byron Chamberlain | 9 | 22 283 12.9 1 || Desmond Clark | 16 | 27 339 12.6 3 |I see 500/3 as his minimum level of production -- 800+ 5+ as max range...

Obviously, L. Gordon in leagues with no preseason FA. I won't be surprised if one of these guys breaks out, but w/o that proverbial crystal ball, I have no idea which one, if any.WR D. Terrell (probably not available in many leagues)WR D. WattsWR M. ClaytonWR K. ColbertWR K. WashingtonWR Reggie WilliamsRB J. FargasI'd like to stash some of these guys on my roster but I just don't have room. Damn small roster limits.

I'll go with this also. Boldin gone most of the year, Fitz starting but already a little banged up, weak defense so playing a lot from behind, D Green loves to throw etc.

I'm loving this thread because I've seen Watts, Burleson and Gabriel all mentioned multiple times and I have them all (14th, 15th and 16th rounds, respectively). Obviosuly, having draft them, I think at least one of them will emerge as a legit fantasy starter this year.I think people will overreact to Stokley's big game/Wayne's poor one and think Stokley is the #2 target in Indy. He's not. Although he's a guy who can go off a few times a year and so isn't a bad guy to have for that inevitable week when all your regular options are hurt or on byes.I also see Lamar Gordon going early (in leagues tha use a waiver order) and expensively (in leagues that use blind bidding). Or more accurately going too early or being over paid for. He'll start, but he's not Ricky Williams and the Mia O is not in good shape.

I can't believe some of the people I hear about around here where people say "He's on waivers?" to the most obscure people. How many teams are in the leagues you guys all play in?

"Lawrence Phillips?""WTF, he is on waivers in your league! You must play with guppies, you guppie. Join a real league."

Is this a good time to bring this up to the top?

Who are you referring to as the third string back in MIN????If you mean O, he's second string, and has been second string since before this seaosn started... and he did DAMN WELL!!!

Reshard Lee RB Dal, that's my early guess
 you took one of mine. I actually picked him up in one league last week, and tried to in another. Turns out he was drafted in that league as a "ghost slot" = not listed in MFL, but the owner filled in the comments with X = R. Lee, DAL RB. My other, which may be available in some leagues - ERIC JOHNSON SF TE he was ranked around #20-25 in FBG's rankings, so he might be available. He could easily be a top 8.
