I came in to post this but you beat me to itVery good choiceI figure that BW's will get outplayed in that game to LSH and be the hot pickup'Dr. Octopus said:LaRod Stephens Howling - with Taylor arriving late, LSH will hold onto third down duties and his quickness gives him some big play ability.
Yeah, I know. But this time.......At the risk of reviving the THT dweeb. How about Chester Taylor(drafted in my league)The only problem with him is that I've been hearing about him breaking out for several years now, and he never really does anything FFB-wise. Another one like that is Maurice Morris.Leon Washington. write it down.![]()
I liked him too, but saw today that E Graham has been moved from fullback to backup tailback. So Lumpkin is 3rd string.http://aol.sportingnews.com/nfl/story/2011-09-06/tampa-bay-buccaneers-team-report-earnest-graham-will-be-third-down-rbAnother source claimed Lumpkin is the backup though, so hard to tell which is true.'duaneok66 said:I like Lumpkin for TB . . .
Sorry for the tangent, but I don't think those teams will be as tough to run on as you seem to thinkNow he has to face PHI, NYG and DAL for 1/3 of the season. He's a pound the table sell.
And just a hunch, but from what I've been hearing, it sounds very likely that we could see both Darren McFadden and Taiwan Jones in the same backfield for a series or two. They want to utilize their tremendous speed to create mismatches. But Jones's blocking has been putrid, so no idea if they follow through with that plan, but it would be exciting to watch.Jones and Bush have totally different skill sets. If McFadden misses time I'd expect Jones to get a significant portion of those reps. I suspect we might see Jones get a couple of reps a game even while McFadden is healthy.Too much ahead of him. Sure, McFadden has a history of getting dinged, but Bush is a quality backup that will keep Jones off the field for the most part this year.Taiwan Jones - if we are speculating on RB3's, he's as good as any of them.
If your really going to take a flyer, I like Taiwan Jones. Really has the moves, skills very few rb have. High Risk High Reward play right nowI also think Chester Taylor will get a lot more playing time than people think. And just a hunch, but from what I've been hearing, it sounds very likely that we could see both Darren McFadden and Taiwan Jones in the same backfield for a series or two. Big fan of Jones as well.Derrick Ward
Foster will end up sitting this weekend and Tate will be the sexy pick going into the game. At the end of the day however, Ward will start and have the monster stat line against a horrible Manningless Colts team.Heard Marvin Lewis on Sirius Opening Drive this morning - direct quote "We plan on getting him involved early and often this year."Bernard Scott
I wouldn't be real surprised if Torain has more carries than Hightower fumbles or not.Torain knows the offense and was the starter going into this season but he got injured. Hightower looked good but ... it was preseason.Torain fumbled twice all year (both in one game vs Chi). He has a career rate of 1 fumble per 98 touches. He also has a career 4.5 ypc (6.9 ypr).Hightower fumbles once every 46 touches and has a career ypc of 3.9 (6.8 ypr).I don't think the evidence demonstrates that Hightower is more talented or less fumble prone than Torain. This is just not true, and yet people keep spouting it like Gospel. Shanahan stuck with Torain last year through multiple-fumble games. There's no reason why he wouldn't do the same with a more talented back when he knows going in that that's his biggest problem. You don't trade for a guy who's pretty fumble-prone, just so you can bury him on the bench when he's, you guessed it, fumble-prone. Note: He didn't have a single fumble in preseason game action. If Hightower fumbles once then Roy Helu or Torain could take over the job
Didn't Johnny White get seriously injured during the preseason? This one is tougher as most starting (and even backup) RBs are probably drafted in most leagues so barring an unforseen injury it's likely that the options will be limited.A few fringe guys that may do enough in Week 1 to be noticed:LaRod Stephens Howling - with Taylor arriving late, LSH will hold onto third down duties and his quickness gives him some big play ability.Marion Barber III - 4-5 catches and a TD or 2 may make him an attractive addBernard Scott - has big play capability and the Bengals should run a lot to protect their young QB in one of the few games they should at least stay competitive in.Johnny White - the kid is electric running the ball, but he may not get a chance behind Fred Jackson and CJ Spiller, but maybe he breaks a long one and opens some eyesJerrious Norwood - he's always good for one or two long highlight play runs before he injures himself again. In a high powered offense he may find some running room.
Has anyone even mentioned that torain was on the cut line...had a good 4th preseason game against scrubs and evan royster was concussed...so he saved his roster spot.'qimqam said:I wouldn't be real surprised if Torain has more carries than Hightower fumbles or not.Torain knows the offense and was the starter going into this season but he got injured. He will have 40 rcpt for the Cards this year. It will be check down central till Kolb learns how to be an NFL qb. If he ever does.I don't see how anyone can endorse Chester Taylor. Dude has been terrible, averaging something like 2.8 YPC over the last 2 years. If you want a guy to fall forward & get 2 yds on every touch, then Chester is your guy.
depends on how many roster spots you have. If your in a thin bench league, it's a lot of risk because your leaving real starters on the waiver wire, not taking a long shot at a #3 rb from the worst team in the nfl.If your in a deep league then your right'Tackling Dummies said:Ummm, there's no risk on a flyer.'smackdaddies said:If your really going to take a flyer, I like Taiwan Jones. How many waiver wires is he on? I would think very fewHeard Marvin Lewis on Sirius Opening Drive this morning - direct quote "We plan on getting him involved early and often this year."Bernard Scott
He's available in my 12-team PPR, and thinking about grabbing him. I don't know that this will be a full-blown RBBC, but interesting comments from Jay Gruden:How many waiver wires is he on? I would think very fewHeard Marvin Lewis on Sirius Opening Drive this morning - direct quote "We plan on getting him involved early and often this year."Bernard Scott
One criticism of the Bengals offense before Gruden arrived had been the belief that the ball was thrown in order to keep certain divas happy. While running back Cedric Benson doesn’t hide his desire to hog the ball, Gruden appreciates it but tempers it at the same time.Like on Wednesday, when Gruden said backup running back Bernard Scott is going to get his fair share of carries.“Bernard has earned the right to carry the ball, no question about it; Cedric just has to accept that,” Gruden said. “That’s a good thing, not a bad thing to have another back of Bernard’s capabilities. Ced won’t be happy about it, but that’s fine. I want all our guys to be upset they’re not getting the ball. That’s the kind of guys we want around here.“Fortunately for us, (Jermaine) Gresham wants the ball. (Jordan) Shipley wants the ball. A.J. wants the ball. I know Jerome wants the ball. There’s only one ball. We’re going to try and distribute it equally and whenever they do get their number called, it’s their job to do something with it so they get it again and again.”
Probably depends on injuries, but I'll go with Delone Carter. In shallow leagues, I'll add Sproles.

I hear Fred Taylor's kid isn't even available in his league. This completely depends on league settings. Not all leagues are the same, not even all 12 man leagues are the same. Almost every guy mentioned here is available in my league. I'm a little tired of this kind of comment in so many threads, complaining that whatever the subject is doesn't apply to MY league. Quit this line of thinking, that everyone's leagues are just like yours, instead take what you can out of the thread, ignore what doesn't apply and move on. If nothing in the thread is relevant to your league, simply ignore the thread. Simple procedures.Every guy mentioned in this thread -- except Keiland Williams, Johnny White, and maybe Norwood -- is owned in most 12-team leagues (Deji Karim has been snapped up in all four of mine).A better question might be: will any 3rd-on-the-depth-chart guys make the leap early in the season (not necessarily after week 1)?The only way there might be a must-add RB after Week 1 is if there's some sort of out-of-the-blue injury to a currently heathy, workhorse RB (like AP, Gore or Blount). Kind of like what happened last year with Ryan Grant going down after Week 1 and Brandon Jackson becoming the hot pickup.

I like this thread.TD heavy?

Maybe in a 16-team, TD only league, I guess . . .But seriously, Kuhn had 6 TDs, and 378 yards from scrimmage last season. When he was basically playing RB instead of FB because Grant was out. And Starks was still on the PUP. And 3 of those TDs came all in one game. Even if he somehow manages to match his TD total, guessing which games he gets the TDs is a total crapshoot, and when he doesn't score you get .5 points for his 3/5 stat line. Love him as a Packer, wouldn't touch him in fantasy.
