Who Will Have Big Breakouts in '09? (1 Viewer)

Nice list, any and all could deliver.

Not quite sold on Bowe yet, we'll see what he does with no Tony G drawing coverage stealing targets. And I still think Ronnie Brown will share carries, somewhat limiting his stats (and Pat White may steal some of his runs from the wildcat).

Couple of guys I really like:

Steve Slaton, who I think could slide into the top 5 in ppr leagues. Absolutely love this guy. Does everything well and is a threat to score from anywhere. Was overshadowed by Chris Johnson last year, but after this season he'll have left his own mark.

Chad Ocho Cinco - not that he wasn't considered elite before last season, but this is going to be a huge comeback year for him IMO. 1300+ yds, 10 TDs. Buy low.

Lee Evans - with TO pulling coverage away, I have a feeling Evans is going to get deep, and get deep often. Could see him posting career highs in yds and TDs.
Fixored.

Anthony Gonzalez - No more Marvin, Peyton Manning as his QB... need I say more?
Gonzalez should do better than he has, but he's already played 10 games without Harrison. In those games, he's averaged 3.5 receptions, 50.7 yards, and 0.3 TD. I realize he should improve as he has more experience, but that's what he's done to date in the scenario you laid out.
 Dallas Clark is what hurts Gonzales.

Here's my picks:QB Simms Denver, stud WR's great TE, and he only has to beat out Orton, bad D means lots of catching up?WR Bowe, the stars are alligned on this oneWR Berrian, Favre's coming to town( please wait until July 1 to attack this statement), and with AP and the gadget plays with Harvin, they be some deep love for BBRB Kevin Smith, finished strong last year, no RBBC here, it's his turn to break outTE John Carson, with TJ, Branch, NB, this kid will be open, and did I forget a healthy HassDon't see the love for DMC, still have huggy bear II and bush in the back field to share the carries, still no real WR's in Oakland (DHB aka Troy Williamson) it be 8 in box all the time for DMC, plus turf toe in both feet does that ever go away?
Chris Simms??? Are you high? MAYBE in a deep sleep/have no faith in Orton way. (but i personally think Orton would be a better fit for this list) But as a "crack the top 10 guy you are NUTS.wtf has Simms EVER shown in NFL. If anything he is a guy with the tools, that is innacurate and a little soft. Meanwhile gritty Orton has proven he can win with mediocre offensive weapons/line and is twice as accurate (a key part of the new offense, if past NE schemes have anything to say about Denvers O)

 I don't and never will get the candle some hold for Chris Simms. The guy has never done anything. Even in college he was outperformed by overachiever Major Applewhite. Classic nepotism.

A few names off the top of my head:

Felix Jones - If Barber goes down, and even if he doesn't, Jones is just a big play waiting to happen.

Leon Washington - His deal will get done, Thomas Jones won't be sticking around, and Washington will be the cog that makes the Jets offense run.

Aaron Rodgers - Will vault himself into the upper echelon of QBs.

Steve Smith (NYG) - Eli's safety valve will see a more prominent role in the offense.

Ray Rice - A sneaky guy I'm keeping my eye on in fantasy football, Rice could get the majority of the carries if McClain moves full time to FB and McGahee stays as injury prone as he is. Sure, Baltimore is RBBC to the max, but Rice played well down the stretch in '08, so I have faith.

Anthony Gonzalez - No more Marvin, Peyton Manning as his QB... need I say more?

Mike Walker - It was a pity he went down to injury last season, but he's another player who could benefit from that extra year's experience and really come on strong in '09 if Holt can occupy double coverage on the other side.
Nice list, though I consider Rodgers already vaulted...
Yeah, I wondered whether or not to bother putting him in the list. What I really mean is that he will vault himself to elite QB status.

RB Kevin Smith, finished strong last year, no RBBC here, it's his turn to break out

TE John Carson, with TJ, Branch, NB, this kid will be open, and did I forget a healthy Hass

Simms led the Buccaneers to their first playoff berth since their Super Bowl victory in the 2002. In the rematch vs. the Redskins Simms led Tampa Bay back again from a 17–3 halftime deficit. With the score at 17–10 late in the fourth quarter, Simms hit Edell Shepherd on an apparent 35-yard TD strike. However, Shepherd failed to maintain possession as he hit the ground. Tampa Bay lost 17–10 in a game where Washington gained only 120 yards of offense, the lowest total for a playoff winner in NFL history.Chris Simms had played well at the end of the 2005 season, and thus came into the 2006 season with high expectations around him. Simms suffered a season-ending injury in Game 3 of the 2006 schedule. On Sunday, September 24, he was taken off the field after taking hard hits from the Carolina Panthers defense. Simms returned to the game and even led a successful scoring drive, but remained in physical distress and was taken to a nearby hospital after the game. Tests revealed a ruptured spleen, and Simms immediately underwent emergency surgery. In the aftermath, Simms said he lost five pints of blood before the operation and conceded that another 45 minutes without treatment could have been fatal.

Splenic rupture permits large amounts of blood to leak into the abdominal cavity which is severely painful and life-threatening. Shock and, ultimately, death can result. I thought playing footbal and leading a scoring drive with this was pretty tough. He literally put his life on the line for his football team. What has neckbeard down to make him more gritty?

Something here doesn't compute...Down 17-3.... lose 17-10. I fail to see where Simms led them back. Back where? To still lose?

I don't disagree with this... except the Chris Simms that returned to football is no longer tough. I think the injury made him gun shy.

I was all hyped up on M Bush, like a few others last year, but my vague recollection is that he was a bit disappointing --- am I remembering this wrong?

My super deep sleepers to make a name for themselves this year.

Deshawn Wynn RB Green Bay: Not sold on Ryan Grant, even less so on Brandon Jackson. When healthy, Deshawn Wynn has been the packs best back.

Marcus Smith WR Baltimore: Loved this guy out of college. Derrick Mason is sure to decline this year or next, Mark Clayton and Demetrius Williams have always had potential, but never stay healthy and when healthy..........never do much. The consensus is that the Ravens didn't draft a WR cause they love Demetrius Williams.........I am going to go out on a limb and say they like Marcus Smith too, and he will be the one to deliver for Baltimore, and soon.

Martin Rucker TE Cleveland: He is a pure pass catching TE.........and we should see that this year.

Shaun Hill QB San Fran: The guy played well in the 2nd half of the season last year, add Michael Crabtree, and factor in an improved Josh Morgan and Jason Hill, not to mentioned a slimmed down and determined Vernon Davis.........Shaun Hill = career year

I'm not talking about just nice numbers, I'm talking about jumping right into the upper-echelon of the best guys in the league type of numbers.
Since it seems many people can't seem to follow the point of this thread and keep posting "super deep sleepers", I figured it was worth pointing this out again to hopefully have people go along with the point of the post.

I'm not talking about just nice numbers, I'm talking about jumping right into the upper-echelon of the best guys in the league type of numbers. Ala Calvin, A-Rodge, Rivers, and Jennings did last year, who can make that same type of leap this year? Here is my list, in order, based on my confidence level (in parentheses) that they will achieve it.1. Darren McFadden (98%) - Yes, virtually a slam dunk that stardom (fantasy, as well as reality) will arrive for RUN-DMc this season. All of the doubters (in his skill level) and the haters (of the Raiders, of course) will be silenced in '09. At a ridiculously low ADP (I've gotten him in the very tail end of the 3rd and seen him in the early 4th in dynasty drafts thus far), I'd buy while supply lasts as the market for acquiring him will certainly become much more expensive very soon.2. Ronnie Brown (92%) - With added beef up front (C Jake Grove), look for the 'Fins to grind it out on the ground even more in '09. And with Brown fully recovered from a severe knee injury almost 2 years ago, the explosiveness will be there and I expect Brown to have a monster season, potentially Top 4-6 amongst RBs. He's tantalized and teased us in the past, but finally, in '09, "RB" does it big.....don't miss the boat on this one3. Dwayne Bowe (91%) - Hard to find WRs to fit this category, so I'll take one of the obvious choices here. Most already believe this, so no need to elaborate much here. Haley seems to be able to get guys to reach their potential (Haley's been credited with being very integral in Fitz making the leap to true superstardom), so Bowe should take note and work hard and he too can get there. 4. Greg Olsen (88%) - With the arrival of Cutler, Olsen stands to benefit the most. A TE who can get vertical and is a mismatch for either a LB or safety, look for Olsen to line up all over the field this year and become the favorite target of "JC". Olsen will be right on the heels of, if not surpass them, Gates and Gonzo, but probably still significantly behind Witten though, at least in terms of total catches. His ypc should be amongst the best at his position and I would not be surprised to see 8-10 TDs from Olsen this year. The only potential "buzz-kill" here is if for some reason the Bears offensive coaches continue to utilize D.Clark on way too many snaps......again. Well, that's all the freebies for now.....no real sleepers but then again, that shouldn't be what you were expecting with the thread title and opening line.
Add one more to the list....5. "Beanie" Wells (85%) - Instant stud. Take note of the analogy. Pretty good RB has very good season for a good, promising team. Enter 1st RD pick RB whom good team reportedly didn't really need since they already had a pretty good RB. Well, move over C.Taylor, enter "All-Day" Pete.......similarly, move over Timmy "High-Top", enter the "Beanie-Man". Yeah, he's not quite Peterson (who is?), but he's darn good....much better than most seem to think around here.
What a tOSU homer! The Beanie will get hurt by the 4th game and be questionable the rest of the season. Caveat emptor! I feel sorry for any one who drafts The Beanie (think Animal House).

Chris Henry - 10 TD'sWill emerge as the best WR in Cincy.
I'm a huge Cincy homer (as well as a Chris Henry owner in multiple leagues) and even I say you've lost your mind.
Had 9 TD's a couple years ago so I don't know what's difficult to understand here.I don't expect Chad in Cincy this upcoming season (despite talk to the contrary, I believe they peddle him during the summer). In that event, I think Henry becomes the Bengals best receiver.

If beanie can block (jury is out) I think he will be huge as well. If Beanie can't block then he won't even see the field. As of right now if I can get beanie in the later rounds I'll be happy.
