Before I give you my opinion, remember that you don't HAVE to win a trade - the bottom line is does it make your team better (even if you may have given away the best single player or slightly more talent....esp in roto scoring with category differential)
In this particular case the team getting Howard plus two players certainly has the advantage in this trade because
Howard > Berkman
and while Carpenter > Pelfrey, there is the risk he misses more time
and Blake added in
There is a scenario where the team trading Howard feels it is the right gamble for his team (he has HR covered, needs BA from Berkman, has a player =/+ to Blake on the bench AND needs what Carpenter might deliver if he pitches every week for the balance of the season)
