I heard this on the radio this morning and thought is was a cool question.  Who would win in a fight between between these two, not between their superhero alter-egos.

Bruce Wayne would not have his suit/armor nor any of his gadgets.  Clark Kent would risk his secret identity if he used any of his superpowers.

 
Kent was Superman even without the suit - Wayne could do anything to Kent and it wouldn't hurt him.  Kent was never a normal person, just Superman in disguise.  No offense but this seems like a stupid question.

the question would have to assume Kent and Wayne were not their alter egos, just the two as they pretend to be.

In which case it would still be Kent because he's from Kansas.

If by 'better' you mean 'more', that's Wayne without a doubt, as he seems more willing to go slumming.

If by 'better' you mean 'higher quality', that's a push, as Kent has high standards and would only settle for hot and wholesome, but Wayne has access to that group as well because of his social status.

That's why it's important to know if 'better' refers to quality or quantity. 

If it's sheer numbers, it's Bruce Wayne in a landslide, but if it's quality, they're on equal footing.

I voted Bruce Wayne.  If the premise is "not between their superhuman alter egos", Then I am assuming Kent has none of his special powers.  Bruce is a fighter...BAM...that's all he did...BIFF...His gadgets were more for escape and such.  The man clearly knows how to battle with his fists...SPLAT!

You know Bruce Wayne has a lot of money to take to the bank though, right? Clark Kent is some jabroni reporter.

 
No offense, but as far as their "regular lives" go,   Bruce Wayne is like a less interesting Tony Stark and Clark Kent is a less compelling Peter Parker.

 
Everyone would think Bruce Wayne won, but Clark wouldn't be hurt at all, so really Clark.

And yes, very stupid question, and I am even stupider for answering.

 
And to make be even dumber, I will answer again. 

Neither, they will both slap each other like girls.  Clark can't show his super hero powers, and Bruce can't show he is a badass.   Cat fight.  No winners.

So Kent has to fake being hurt when Wayne breaks his hand on his jaw?  And then pretend to be surprised and say "I guess he has a glass jaw" when one punch knocks Wayne out? I think he's probably smart enough to handle that.

You could argue that since Kent is a working man, a regular 9-5er he wouldn't have much time for any kind of combat/martial arts training.

It wouldn't be unheard of for a billionaire to take fencing or judo or something in his spare time. Hire a private defense instructor or something. 

Bruce could bust out some karate moves and it wouldn't seem odd.

I think Bruce is probably smart enough not to punch Clark in the jaw, knowing it would break his hand. 

Judo down? Jiu Jitsu? He could grapple him or "choke" him out. If its ineffective Clark would risk blowing his cover.

So we assume Wayne knows Kent is Superman? And we assume Kent is dumb enough to let Wayne that close without punching him the one time he needs to knock him out?

you make a fare point bromigo i cannot argue that but in the end despite the banktakeability of batdork he is still a gigantic laroosh and is basically a combination of the clippers rockets and duke so i vote for sup and will support him take that to the bank bromigo

Banktakeability is something that needs to be explored a lot more in real world situations

 the Bruce I recall was a lazy playboy. 

working stiffs take martial arts and the like. 

Alfred would kick both of their asses.

 
An even stupider question is who would win in a battle of basketballs: Kent State University or Wayne State University
