I'm assuming for this question that Indy, NE, Cincy, Pitt and the AFC West winner will make the playoffs. The race for the last playoff spot looks like it could be a doozy.

Baltimore - their head to head wins over both Denver and San Diego will be the tiebreaker when they end up tied with one of them for the 6th spot.

I think the 2 Wild Card teams can safely be narrowed down to Pittsburgh, Baltimore and the Texans. Pitt is no sure thing, if Baltimore beats them 2x, then Pitt could easily miss the playoffs all-together. San Diego is a lock for the West with Denver being exposed as a fraud and clearly was an early season over-achiever under a young a firey coach.

NE

Indy

Cincy

SD

fight between Pitt, Baltimore and Houston

Watch out for Tennesee though, their finally working out of their early season funk. They won't make the playoffs, but will be a spoiler for many teams on their remaining schedule.

I'm going with Miami. The way this season has developed reminds me a lot of how last season developed for them.

Miami is playing good ball, but their schedule has been a nightmare this season, and is rather tough down the stretch, too: @ Carolina @ Buffalo New England @ Jacksonville @ Tennessee Houston PittsburghI figure the second wild card team in the AFC will need to go 10-6, and I just don't see the Dolphins going 6-1 against that schedule.

Put me in the Houston column.. remaining schedule is nice, I think if they can beat Indy at home - certainly possible, since they should have beaten them in Indy - they will definitely finish with 10 wins.

divison champs:

Indy

Cincy

Ne

SD

Wildcard

Pitt

Probably Baltimore/Denver - something isnt right in Balt with that D, smashing the browns yesterday not withstanding.

I dont htink Jax or Houston or Miami/NYJ gets it done.

Other: SteelersAssuming Cincy wins AFC N division instead of PITT.
That is the assumption being made since Cincy already swept Pitt and is 5-0 in the division.Of course nothing is a given, Hou or Jax could still win the South. Nobody is expecting it though.

The assumption was that the Steelers are going to make the playoffs, either as the first WC or division winner.Other means Titans, Browns, Bills, Raiders or KC.

If Denver wins the west, I think San Diego gets the last wild card. If San Diego wins the west, I think it will be Houston or Baltimore.

If Houston wins at least 2 out of their next 3 (all divisional games) they have a really good chance to end up at 10-6. They've got to make it thru those games first though, lose 2 of them and their playoff hopes are probably over in the AFC.

Works for me. Unless the Texans get to 10-6.
The Chargers should be able to get to 11-5 with their easy schedule. If they can't finish 5-2 then they don't deserve to be in anyway. Denver has a tougher schedule so Baltimore will probably get in if the Chargers win the division.

I voted Baltimore, I think the Ravens and Stillers both make it as a WC.

As a football fan, though, I am pulling for the improbable best story - and nothing would beat the Titans making the playoffs after starting 0-6.

Because of their wins over San Diego and Denver, the Ravens have an outside shot if they do no worse than split the four games remaining against Indy, Pittsburgh (twice) and at Green Bay. The way they've been playing, that's still a tall order -- it also assumes no upset by the Bears. I don't know where they'd be in a tiebreaker with either Houston or Jacksonville but I think both of those teams go 9-7 anyway.

Even after last night I can see the Stillers running the table the rest of the way and finishing 11-5. Prospective losses to Indy and Philly put Denver at 10-6, Jacksonville has probable losses coming from Indy and New England to finish 9-7. Baltimore needs things to play out like that and get a win in Green Bay (maybe a 40% chance) to go 10-6 (assuming a loss at Pittsburgh), whereby they have the tiebreaker over the Broncos.

Yeah I think Denver is in. Some easy games 2 vs KC and Oakland on the schedule but you never know.

Pitt/Balt seems most likely to grab the other spot.

Jax/Hous/Tenn - Titans are hot but I dont think any of these teams get in
