Who's dabbling in cash games this year? (1 Viewer)

Trying the draftkings free tournament this week. Most likely the outcome will determine my further use.

There is an entire forum dedicated to this now and a poll is up with your exact question about the different sites.

I finally caved.. It doesn't exactly thrill me to read some "inside info" considering that I may have a completely different view (and all too willing too express it)

But, I visited a site (dynasty league ...) and was able to get a free membership for opening a FanDuel accnt.

FBG may still be doing this (dunno) which would probably be my first choice.

But, yeah I think its kinda neat to sorta overpay for a subscription in a sense, and get to try some Daily League Fantasy Football..

ya should watch the FBG vid https://youtu.be/wa1H4v6bD1A It does provide some valuable info ie. First 50 rounds of 50/50 gaming I wanna say it matchs ya to other new guys? (discussion @ end of video)

Honestly, I kinda hope the DFS Forum has a lot of good info Hi-lited, for newbies to get up to speed..

p.s. The biggest thing, Id suggest is looking into the "double promo" Basically ya can earn Bonus Funds for playing. So if ya deposit $10, ya can earn up to $10 in Bonus Funds (Its confusing to me just yet) I kinda wish I had deposited $200, but kinda disappointed in the "bonus" system (just yet anyway)

I still had my $10 balance from last years FBG subscription so i entered two $5 contests to audit how easy or difficult it is to finish in the money (payouts seem to range from the top 5-20%).

I'm using a $100 for the season in $5 games. When I'm out, I'm done. If I make it through week 17 with cash left, I'm done. Hopefully I can break even at worst.

Just like Vegas wasn't built on winners, fanduel and draft kings is getting filthy rich preying on people who think that the common joe can waltz in and win thousands a week (just like ALL their ads and testimonials so heavily paste on).

My advice if you've never taken the plunge, short of "don't" would be if you simply must then play for free, get it out of your system, move on. Long term, the amount of "winners" in this stuff is limited to the the number of people who have a piece of the fanduel and draft kings pie along with about .005 of the gambling population.

I put $25 into FanDuel and got a free FBG subscription like three years ago. Later I took out $100 and I'm still playing with the remaining $ (around $30 left).

To be fair, I only play $1 and $2 contests here and there, plus a private weekly game with some friends. Small-time stuff. But if you're a casual player who does it to enhance your fantasy season it can be a lot of fun. I'm not a hard-core gambler, obviously.

Still, you really can win money.

honestly this is the way to play it. I think the $2/3 50/50,is where you can avoid the bots and big bank rolls but really who cares about such a small amount?

Never understood why they call some of them cash games and the others something else. Aren't we playing for cash in all of them?

Its probably worth noting that Yahoo has a similar Daily game or what not.. Since some of our discussions are "from the Gut", I believe its worth considering Yahoo (based on reputation) Im not saying any of these "cash games" have any bad pub in the least (that Im aware of anyway) But Yahoo itself has been around for sometime..

I'm giving it a try this year. Not expecting much because I put very little research into it and haven't studied the numbers very much, but I do think I know more about the player pool than the average joe who will buy into these sites. What concerns me is the number of full-timers with bots and scripts who are basically flooding all the games. It's like walking into a casino and knowing that there are 500 clones of the best poker player in the state sitting in the cardroom. Poker is easy when you are playing against clueless players, but very hard if the other person knows what he's doing. I imagine that this is similar.

As for the sites, I am on DraftKings and FanDuel and here are my very early observations:

FanDuel - Better interface. Just looks and feels more polished. However, the games are only .5 ppr and there's a kicker slot.

DraftKings - Full PPR lineups with an added flex spot and no kicker. Seems like more starting lineup spots = lower variance and higher reward for individual owner skill, though that depends on whether or not you feel the flex spot is more "winnable" than the kicker slot.

From what I've heard, one of the big differences is that DraftKings allows late swaps whereas FanDuel doesn't. Don't know enough about that to comment though.

It is like a casino in a sense that you bring X amount of money that you can afford to lose and have fun in the process. Any winnings is icing on the cake. The problem is that gambling becomes addictive for many people and creates a bigger problem in their lives. Just be careful.
