I would like to get some opinions here. This is not a FF Defense question, just overall who is the best. It seems to me that these three teams are the elite, though you could also make arguments for a few other teams: the Ravens, Eagles, Vikings, Bucs, etc. (At the beginning of the year, I was positive that Minnesota would have the best D this year, but that has not proven to be the case, IMO.)

I voted for the Steelers, but I am biased as a fan and I can't really give you good arguments that they are better than the Titans and Giants. All three seem to be playing at an equally high level.

Whaddya think?

Titans are like an Anaconda - they slowly wrap themselves around the prey and squeeze the life out of it.

It's not that slow. All three teams have one thing in common: it's really, really, really, hard to run against them. Both the Titans and the Giants have better defensive lines than the Steelers do, IMO. However, Pittsburgh has the best linebackers, and perhaps the best defensive player in Polamalu.

The Titans have the best defense when all are healthy...which they are not right now.

Titans are missing KVB, Harper, his sub King, and 2 other pieces of depth on the DL.

I think Albert Haynesworth has been the best defensive player in football for the past 2 seasons.

Titans get better as game goes on (coaching adjustments?) which gives them slight edge over Giants/Steelers

i wouldn't want to be a tailback going up against any of the three

Well, they did show the stat today that the Steelers' D is allowing 3.83 yards per snap this season, which is the lowest total in the NFL since 1979. I imagine that average dropped even further today. That's not a bad argument.

Yeah, it's not like the other teams have any injuries. Imagine what it would be like if the Steelers had to start a 3rd string cornerback and use a guy they signed this week as their nickel back against Rivers yesterday. Oh, wait, they did.

When all 3 of these teams are at full health -- the Titans have the best defense.
