Who's more pathetic: Dan Orlofsky or Tavaris Jackson (1 Viewer)

Fascinating choice of which opposing defense to start....

1. The Colts host the Lions sans Culpepper

2. The Cardinals host the Vikings sans Frerotte

Despite the fact that the Cardinals got me 2 defensive TDs last week, I've just grabbed the Colts off the wire as I think they will feast on the Lions (a common theme this year).

I suppose you could also include the Raiders hosting a possibly Cassel-less Patriots, but as a Pats homer I'm not ready to go there....

Believe it or not, but Tarvaris Jackson actually has a much lower Int% and Sack% than Gus Frerotte this year. You actually should downgrade the defense playing against him.

TJAX

-Int% 1.4

-Sack% 7.9

Frerotte

-Int% 5.2

-Sack% 8.8

It is a similar story with Orlovsky vs. Culpepper. Arguably, you would prefer to have Culpepper in there.

Orlovsky

-Int% 2.6

-Sack% 7.1

Culpepper

-Int% 5.2

-Sack% 10.9

I'm not saying that the defenses against these teams will be bad starts, I'm just saying that I don't see the upgrade with these guys starting that you are assuming.

Any defense would salivate at the chance to destory a hack like Jackson.
In real life, you might be right. In fantasy, you might be wrong. From the Footballguys site, here is Points Allowed to Defenses by Minnesota in the games TJax started vs. Frerotte:TJax: 1.5/gmFrerotte: 7.75/gmTJax could come out, throw for some ridiculously low number of yards like 150 or something, but not throw an interception or get sacked. The Vikings end up losing the game, but your Arizona fantasy defense doesn't perform like you would hope. That is largely what has happened this year with TJax. That is all I'm saying.

I would think he will have to abandon the short "safe" passes if Warner and Co. cant be stopped. That's usually when the flood gates open for 'Zona. The two games Jackson started were close. On the road(and possibly minus 2 of their best 3 defensive players) I am wondering if this one gets out of hand quickly forcing Jackson to sling it 40+ times.

Looking at the team as a whole rather than just the QB,

you have to start the Colts D against the worst team on the planet.

Plus TJax looked very good last week in relief of Gus.
