Who's starting or considering starting Roddy & if so, w/confid (1 Viewer)

Some of us really have no options. Is there any hope for some remnant of the old Roddy?

its either Roddy or:

  • Ridley vs Den (#4 run D)
  • Shorts vs Hou (#1 pass D)
  • Julius Thomas with sprained knee, but game isn't until late.
flex spot, obviously. Julius is my preferred option here, but I'm a bit nervous.

He had to face Sherman and Revis coming off of injury. I feel quite good about Roddy going forward and am starting him with confidence.

I have no idea how anyone is starting him "with confidence".

That said, I do think he will fit that description soon, just not yet. I think anyone able to pick him up off the waiver wire (or traded for him) a few weeks back will be rewarded for the fantasy playoffs.

I'm in the same spot trying to decide if it's worth gambling on Julius Thomas playing Sunday night. I don't have any other options if he doesn't play. The timing of Roddy's game tonight is making it a tough decision, but if I don't hear some really good news about JT by kickoff tonight I'm pulling him out.

I need to win this week, so definitely not starting him. Playing Steve Smith, Boldin and Jeffery over him. :sadbanana:

Has he practiced at all this week? Haven't heard anything.

Need him healthy again for Gonzalez's sake
For the first time all season, roddy was not on the injury report and fully participated in both practices. I am starting him and hoping for something decent

I dropped him this morning to lock up St Louis defense for the playoffs.
Don't understand this. While roddy has certainly earned a drop, why drop him now when he is finally healthy? And if you do, make sure its for something worthwhile. I would rather have him than a def who has to go up against the Saints and to a much lesser extent TB in the playoffs. Those teams don't give up fantasy points for a def. Bad move imo

my league has position restrictions can only carry 5 wide receivers. kept Kendall Wright over Roddy White. Roddy would never see the starting line up with AJ Green Torrey Smith and Keenan Allen(start 2) it reflects how poorly I think of roddy going forward and more so Atlanta's offense in general. I now have the two highest rated defenses for my custom 200 going forward. and St Louis and the Chiefs match up well together in the playoffs in my opinion. you guys start Roddy if you want I don't see the garbage touchdown coming very often like last week.ps I have nothing invested in roddy, I picked him up once he cleared waivers about 4 weeks ago. this is a shallower league i suppose( 1 rb - Reggie Bush, 1 flex Stacy/Rainy, and the wide receiver situation I outlined above.

I don't have Thomas, but do have Ridley and have same decision. Leaning Ridley, just based upon his past experience....but Vereen and his fumbling have me concerned.

I'm going Roddy over the slowly being phased out Woodhead at Flex...

Just have a feeling Roddy goes off tonight. No Greer, more focus on Douglas and Ryan having to throw ALL NIGHT.

No PPR, I'd probably lean towards Ridley, but Ridley is only typically good for at most 1 catch a game, so in a PPR I lean towards Roddy.

And don't forget he's not on the injury report for the first time all season.

don't know about him going off. But he should be good for six catches 80 yards and hopefully a touchdown

This may be better suited for the assistant coach forum but since we're talking Roddy... For my WR3 I need to pick Harry Douglas or Roddy... FBG rankings have Harry about 20 and Roddy about 30 so I have Harry penciled in... but I agree with the other posters that this could be Roddy's breakout game. Just wish he showed me more last week. Who would you go with?

Tough call on a Thursday night. I want to say Roddy but I'd lean Douglas.

I have no idea why, but I think he plays like old Roddy. Crazy. I know. Maybe its the comments that he made after last game saying he had to look at himself in the mirror. He had to pick it up. Maybe its that he seems healthy for the first time all year. Maybe its because he's not facing Sherman or Revis this week. Maybe its the Saints beat up secondary and coming off a highly emotional game against the Niners. Maybe its the 9 targets he saw last week. Maybe its false hope.

But I'm rolling with him. And I feel good about it.

I'm debating starting him or Marques Colston in the game tonight. I don't feel like either is a terrible option, though I think at this point I'm more comfortable with Roddy having his first Roddy week on my bench before trusting him in my starting lineup again.

How can anyone start him with CONFIDENCE. If you're starting him it's mostly because there are no other options left for you. ;) .

Disclaimer: this does not suggest/imply that White will not have a good game, but more power to you if you EXPECT the good/great game.

I EXPECT something like 7 rec 80-100 yards, maybe a TD. That is more than I expect of Steve Smith.

AJ Green on bye, starting Roddy over Terrance Williams. With confidence, I suppose. He played all but 1 snap last week, and they should certainly be trailing.

However, my matchup is also largely inconsequential, as all 4 teams have locked up playoff berths in my league with this being our last regular season week.

AJ Green on bye and Joe Haden covering Antonio Brown has me considering him
Although just preditions I found it interesting

Dobbs/Norton has Brown as the 6th ranked wr this week

bloom 15

tremblay 12

I am kind of surprised how highly ranked they have him this week.

It seems like Haden is quietly one of the most underrated corners in the league and would be shadowing Brown around the field. Leaving a big opportunity for Sanders/Cotchery to have big days

Those starting him WITH CONFIDENCE are kidding themselves.
gotta get themselves hyped up.. I wanna start him but would rather see him do well again this week so i can truly start him with confidence next week

Ponder this for a minute, if someone would have told you at the beginning of the year that Julio Jones would go out for the year pretty early in the year, you wouldn't have been able to name me another receiver drafted in the 3rd round or later that you would have wanted more. How the mighty have fallen.

If you set the over under on White averaging more than 4/50/.5 from here on out I would bet the house on the under. I'll gladly eat some crow later but I really don't think he produces above that.

The Saints are one of the top 10 defenses in terms of fantasy points allowed to wide receivers in both PPR and non-PPR scoring systems. Keenan Lewis is no joke and should limit White. Now if the White of years past shows up, he'll be able to overcome all that and put up solid points. If he is on the decline, he'll probably disappoint again. I think it's a risk to start him.

Not sure if Roddy blows up tonight - but think that his presence, Harry Douglas' emergence and the utter collapse of the run game have made Matt Ryan startable again.

That's what happens when you try to play with a high ankle sprain for weeks, then hurt your hammy, and then your shoulder.

I'm benching him this week with confidence. I think I will start someone like Silent G at the flex spot over Roddy this week. I could see Ogbonna easily putting up 10 points with 50 rushing yards and a bunch of dump off screen passes with the upside of scoring a TD. However, I think Roddy White has a better chance of catching 2 passes for 19 yards than 5 catches for 50 which I think would be about his ceiling this week.

However, I may try to trick the fantasy Gods by putting White in my lineup and then take him out at the last minute because I have no doubt the fantasy Gods hate me and will do anything to make sure I start the wrong players. Fantasy Gods are real right?

I'm in... partially due to a weak WR2 crop on my roster (Nicks, Terrance Williams) and partially because I bought low on this guy expecting him to perform. I think it starts soon... as in a few hours from now.

Giddy up.

  • How do all the injuries to the Saints secondary figure to affect his value?
I was looking for a big fall off when Vaccaro, Jenkins and Greer were out. Next man up seemed to work pretty good last game. Rob Ryan really should be a defensive coach of the year candidate for what he has done with that squad.
