Who will have the best numbers in a redraft this year and why? How do you rank them

I agree with Jimmy Smith as the best old guy "value" pick. But I think Kennison will probably out perform them all since he is the ONLY WR threat KC has. (Not including TG and LJ out of the backfield).

Isn't McCardell the only WR threat in SD too?

Can you say: "Phillip Rivers"?Never trust a newbie QB. Plus, it has been preached on these boards that young QB's depend on their TE's for security...and SD has the best in the league.

I'll take Rod Smith.

Muhammad and McCardell have QB concerns, while Kennison has a new OC. Toomer is behind Plax, Shockey and Barber in that offense.

First instict was Rod Smith, I went with Muhammad. Griese/Grossman should do much better getting him the ball than Kyle Orton and there's no Javon Walker to steal any thunder. I'd lump them together and couldn't complain either way if they were my 3rd WR.

I'm going with the Moose all the way.

Brian Griese will LOCK in on him, and with no other legitimate or proven receiving threat, I could see the moose putting up 90/1250/11

Book it

I voted Kennison, but thinking about it, would rather change my vote to Moose.

Consider: Muhammed's catch% from the last 5 seasons- 54%, 58%, 54%, 58%, 47%. One of these things is different. One of these things doesn't belong.

With Orton out of the picture (because man, he was TERRIBLE), I expect a nice rebound from Moose. Fewer question marks (in my mind) than his two biggest competitors, Rod Smith (Javon Walker) and Eddie Kennison (Herm Edwards).

Moose with90/1250/11. come on now.

06 Derrick Mason = 05 Joey Galloway
06 Derrick Mason = 31 years old. I'd hardly say that qualifies for mention on the "Old guy" list with 36 year old Rod Smith and 36 year old Keenan McCardell.Of course, I also happen to believe that describing 33 year old Muhsin Muhammed and Eddie Kennison as "old guy WRs" is a stretch, since they're the same age as Terrell Owens, and a full year younger than Marvin Harrison and Isaac Bruce. And 32 year old Amani Toomer definitely doesn't belong.

Edit: Now that you mention it, though... Joey Galloway (35) definitely deserves mention.

I'm surprised it was this close.

- J.Walker coming off a major injury and learning a new offense while building a rapoire with a new QB.

- A.Lelie AWOL.

- Adams has skill but I'm not sure he's ready.

- Terrell has skill but I'm not sure he'll ever be ready.

- Watts has skills but catching isn't one of them.

- Marshall is a rookie WR in the NFL.

How could anyone go with anyone other than Smith????????? Are people worried he'll be double covered all season? Maybe, but considering the amount of targets he should get he's still going to have a good year.

I do too -- but enough to pass Smith/Kennison/McCardell?For what it's worth, here's how they finished last year:

16. Rod Smith

17. Keenan McCardell

18. Eddie Kennison

33. Amani Toomer

37. Muhsin Muhammad

I see Smith, McCardell, and Kennison all dropping off a bit this year, and Muhammad rebounding. But likely not enough to cross paths in the rankings. The Bears' passing offense just doesn't match up with the AFC West teams. (I know some people are worried about Rivers, but I'm not at all.)

:goodposting: After all, the thread is asking about old guys.

I see McCardell falling through the floor. Call it the "Phillip Rivers Experience". I also see Rod Smith dropping. Not through the floor, but to WR24-30 range. I'm not that concerned about his targets dropping, but I am *very* concerned about his RED ZONE targets dropping. He's currently option 1, 2, and 3 in the red zone (and Kyle Johnson is option 4). I see Walker stealing a lot of his TDs, and without the TDs, Rod Smith's not top20. I see Kennison dropping a little bit because of Herm Edwards and because last year was a career year for him, but not a whole ton (I haven't done any "hard" rankings yet, but my gut says a couple of slots ahead of Smith). I certainly think that, with a viable QB, Muhammed will be able to rebound and pass those two. Not by a ton, but by a little bit.
