Who's the next QB to get benched? (1 Viewer)

Shutout

Footballguy
Ok, we've seen 5 weeks of play and some UGLY QB play with some teams so...

Who gets the hook next and can it save their team?

Gabbert should be benched, but it's Jaguars. If Vick misses this next week, I wouldn't be surprised to see Foles start the rest of the season. He's a better QB, and I think he can consistently move the offense. TJ Yates might end up starting a game. Same for Josh Johnson.

Geno isn't getting benched he is a rookie and the Jets are willing to let him learn.

Gabbert isn't getting benched because the Jaguars know how to tank.

Weeden isn't getting benched because the guy that took his job is out for the year

Dalton isn't getting benched, the team is 3 - 2 and can easily win the AFC North.

Vick could be because of his injury and Foles played well today, but lets not forget that it was against the Giants

Schaub could be because the Colts are getting better and he is costing them games.

schaub looks horrible tonight--gabbert looks horrid every night. I don't see dalton getting benched after they just beat the Pats. I'm just wondering if this horrible qb play would entice a team like houston to look at a guy like Freeman.

Tell that to Alex Smith 2012. The Bengals are winning in spite of Dalton, not because of him. Not to say he's a sure goner, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were considering sitting him down.
The 49ers benched Smith because the backup was actually better.Think about that for a moment before you make your next post.

Is Josh Johnson equal to Colin Keapernick though?
That was because of an injury, are you predicting Dalton to get injured?

No one ever wants to give Foles full credit. Last week he scored in relief with 5 throws and it was the same story. The guy has only had one bad game statistically in his career, and that was his first start.

Really? last week when they were down 52 to 13 is when he led that amazing scoring drive.

He doesn't have to be. He just has to be better than Dalton.

I know. Some of the Den defenders went on record that they were pissed he scored that TD, but that's not my point. He's been playing well since he shook off the rookie jitters last season. He can deliver the ball accurately in the NFL. He just needs playing time. I guess it's just a peeve. Everytime he plays well it's always a if/and/but attached to it.

:goodposting: Josh Johnson couldn't beat out Josh Freeman or Scott Tolzien.

I am not saying he won't be a good quarterback but his best games have come against Tampa Bay last year, they ranked dead last against the pass. A half against the Giants this year which rank 22nd against the pass, and a drive when his team was down 39 late in the 4th.

Gomer on the other hand is just awful. He threw a pass Sunday just like Gabbert did, right to the other team. Of course their offensive philosophy has not evolved. They still regularly trot out a power I formation with a FB. Bunch of losers. Gomer doesn't have Peyton's ability to say, 'screw that, get rid of that formation'. He just goes, 'golly gee, ok'.

God I really wanna say Eli...
He probably should be but he won't
Agreed - no way are they going with Curtis Painter or Ryan Nassib at this point.

Although Nassib could possibly get an audition for the backup role very late in the season.
At some point it should be considered...if not for playing in the NFC Least, they would be way out of it after this past Sunday. While I don't think it is a situation where they think they should get rid of Eli, I do think there are rare opportunities for decent teams (at least on paper) to "test out" the backup QB...the tail end of this year may be the opportunity so they know where they stand going into 2014.

Eli

at some point you have to bench him. 3 picks/gm, two bad intentional grounding penalties yesterday.

if it was any other QB he'd be riding the pine by now..

you can't win when you turn the ball over SO much..
