Why do leagues have 1:00 (1 Viewer)

In following the Westbrook situation, it seems like a lot of teams lost production because their lineups locked at 1:00. Why do leagues do this. I have never heard of that. I have only been in leagues where rosters lock at game time for that player. Im not hating, just want to see if there is a reason for it.

Because some leagues are different than others. :pickle:

It may be a more casual league where owners don't want to have to keep watching the injury wire all day, and just sit back and have a beer while enjoying the games.

It may be a more competitive league that instituted the rule to make it even more difficult when facing a Westbrook-type situation.

I could probably go on like this for a while. Is it the best solution? Maybe, maybe not--but there are reasons, to answer your question.

reason ... you have to have a common time/date for owners to submit lineups to make it fair for everyone...(or at least that is my leagues complaint).

They do not want to give an advantage to someone who gets to watch the games or have internet access over those that do not (ie work Sundays)

Not really sure if either way is better.

if you did your homework today on the Westbrook situation, all signs were pointing to him not playing ... in a redraft I put Santonio Holmes in for him at Flex .. :goodposting:

Our league does this because "it's always been that way". It also adds a bit of strategy to how you pick and why you pick them. That said, I got boned today because I have Westy and rolled the dice. Figured I needed his 20+ points (PPR league) to be competitive, and my options stink. Of course everything comes together, and Morency's 6.5 pts would have given me a fat 0.35 point win. Sometimes I hate this game...

Some have the rule some don't. Me it's 50/50 in 4 leagues.Got banged bad on the rule with Ward at 8:15PM and had to place lineup in by 1PM!

It's better to have a chance to start a player when it's his kickoff time ...I think not having this rule is a disadvanage to all in a way.
