Why doesn't Arizona pursue Sage Rosenfels? (1 Viewer)

Sage has had success anytime he's been in the lineup. I liked him when he came in for Schaub in Houston. Granted he made some mental mistakes and threw a lot of picks, I thought he was a pretty good NFL QB and can easily be the starter in that offense. Even in the first preseason game this year, he did really well.

If he's seriously behind Jackson on the depth chart, the Cardinals have to look into this.

I'm so down on the Cardinals QBs that I think Rosenfels is a viable alternative. That said, I would stop at the bolded part. He's a gunslinger with one of the highest INT% in the league. At least he's more accurate than Derek Anderson though.

No doubt Sage will be available as the Vikes will keep Favre, Tjack and Webb

Maybe a Sage for Beaston or Doucet trade would work or a 3rd round pick?

I doubt anyone would pay that much for a guy Minnesota is just going to cut anyway. Even Stephen Williams would be a stretch.

Doubt they will cut him, or I've heard no reports it was under consideration. He's definitely a viable QB. I'd say more likely they try to get Webb to the practice squad. Hard to imagine another team claiming and rostering him since he was a low draft pick and expected to be a WR convert, and has not seasoned at all at WR while with the Vikes. Would eny other team claim and roster him? I doubt it, although the Vikes did lose Thigpen a few years back taking that chance.

If that was the case, the Vikings would be better off moving Webb back to WR and keeping Sage as QB3.
If you're a fan, yes. If you're in the front office, you don't want to pay $2.6 mil to your QB3 when you're pretty confident you're getting 16 games out of your QB1.

Agreed with everything you've said here. This is a real business, not fantasy football.

Real business NFL teams cut viable QBs over $2.6 million in an uncapped year? I'll believe it when I see it.

I guess you could wait until the player is released then out bid other teams for his services. But then again that how Arizona end up paying 7M over 2 years for Derrick Anderson.

Maybe not that much, but if they're really interested, they'd pay something to get him in camp quicker rather than just waiting for him to get cut.
