Why is Jacksonville favored? (1 Viewer)

Simple question, really. I don't always agree with spreads, but this one genuinely arouses my curiosity. It's not even like they're -3 or worse. They're getting -3.5.

not sure. with there backup starting as well. But they are AT home....i think giants will win. but ELI will suck for fantasy this week.

The Giants are a mess.

Petitgout is out, Strahan is out, Toomer is out, and Madison and Umenyiora are doubtful.

They could be without half their DL (and their two best defensive players), along with their top OL, their number two wideout and one of their better cover men on the road against a tough opponent.

Furthermore, except for when they play Houston, Jacksonville has been a pretty good team this year.

I'm not seeing it, personally. The Jags have lost twice to a bad Texans team and to a bad Redskins team. The Giants have lost 3 games - Indy (where they played better than the opposition), a healthy Seattle team and Chicago. The best and second best teams in football, and the Seahawks when they were pretty darn good themselves. They have injury problems, certainly. But so does Jacksonville.I guess we'll find out Monday whether or not it was justified. But I'm on the Giants like a bad rash.

The Jags have played up and down to the level of their competition. They've played well against playoff-caliber teams DAL (W), PHL(W), NYJ(W) and held Indy's offense to 2 TD. Meanwhile they've stunk up the joint against the Skins and Texans(twice). The Jags got up for the previous MNF home game against PIT. Plus, you have the whole "Coughlin returns home" angle that the local media is playing to death.Personally, I think the line is awfully close and I'd stay away.

The Giants lost a starting WR and did NOTHING to replace him. Go try and play QB with 1 WR on the field because carter and tyree are ZEROS. Someone should be fired for that in itself. Sometimes the ineptitude of management/coaching in the NFL is staggering.

Who would they replace him with at this point of the season?

Eli Manning is sooooo damn over rated. The look in his face last night reminded me of Kerry Collins in the super bowl when the Giants played Baltimore...Scared ####less! Plaxico is a pus as well. They aren't going any where this year.

There are a handful of players on the WW that are superior to Carter and Tyree. Hell, the Patriots were smart enough to grab Gaffney off the scrap heap and he is better than either of these 2 bozos. They shouldn't have gotten in this predicament in the 1st place. How could they actually beleive that carter is worth anything? Tyree is their special teams guy but that is it.

With Atlanta losing, the Giants have only beat one team with a winning record and that was Dallas when they were in their Bledsoe slide who was yanked during the game. Wouldn't give them any chance against Dallas now.

How much did you lose?
Tough to say, really, as I had the G-Men in one of my parlays. Didn't bet straight up on them; I didn't like the line that much.Anyway, after watching the game I will say that what I did was not underrate the Jaguars (okay... perhaps a little bit) but seriously overrate the Giants. I know they've got injuries, but so do a lot of teams; their defense isn't very good and Manning is unbelievably inconsistent.
