Why is MIchael Crabtree being drafted so high? (1 Viewer)

Seriously guys? I'm seeing people draft him before comparable guys who haven't torn their achilles. He just sat out practice for a calf muscle. Unless San Francisco begins to pass more, I don't think his upside is nearly as high as where people are drafting him. Especially after Sherman smeared him, why would I want that guy on my Fantasy Team?

I'm avoiding Crabtree. You've got Boldin and Davis so there's no need to force Crabtree the ball. I love his hustle and I hope he somehow ends up in Green Bay in the next couple of seasons. He's like a better Greg Jennings, imo.

That's personal preference and has nothing to do with his FF prospects.

I don't have Crabtree but think he was valued just about right this year. In 2012 he was WR15 in PPR and that was playing with a combo QB play of a relatively raw Kaepernick and Alex Smith, who is clearly afraid to push the ball down the field. He looked pretty good once he came back last year and he's only 26 years old.

I think he will perform pretty close to where he is being drafted.

His PPR ADP, which I pulled real quick off of FBG:

Roddy White----SO underrated, no way would I take Crabs over him. I loves me some Roddy this year.

Crabtree

C. Patterson

P. Harvin

M. Floyd

D. Jackson

T.Y. Hilton

I'm not seeing the problem here. Seems about right. Patterson could blow up, or we could be a year early. If you like Harvin over Crabs, you just prefer his injury history I guess. Floyd is expected to take a leap, and I could see an argument here. DeSean and Hilton are both big play guys, with a lot of target competition.

I think that Patterson and Harvin are just so much more athletic than Crabtree that I prefer them. San Francisco isn't exactly known for throwing the rock. I like T.Y Hilton from that group as well. Him and Luck have a connection.

Hilton is way too inconsistent. He had 5 big games of over 100 yards receiving. He had 5 TD's but they all came in only 2 weeks. The other 11 weeks he had under 50 yards receiving and no TD's. Have fun trying to predict that "connection".

And now they have Wayne, Nicks and Allen...

Really surprised whenever I see someone highly touting Hilton. It's like they are only looking at his end of year numbers and not his week to week numbers.

Whenever a player is publicly smeared he should auto drop down draft boards, got it. Why was this worthy of a thread again?

Let's looks further into Em's in depth analysis..

  • Demaiyius Thomas suffered an achilles tear yet he's the consensus #2 WR this year. I don't think the injury is the death knell it once was. Plus, he (Crabtree) looked good when he did come back last year and he likely wasn't 100% yet.
  • I like how you created this thread right after the recent calf injury news. Do you know of the term low-hanging fruit?
  • SF's defense isn't exactly predicted to be a juggernaut this year, it's probable SF is going to have to throw more than they'd like this year/more than they have in years past. Kaep also looked Crabtree's way often.
  • As I pointed out, using "a player has been smeared by another player" as a reason to not draft them is just stupid.
He's being drafted as a mid level WR2 and presents WR1 upside along with some obvious risk. I don't see what's ridiculous about his ADP. I think you should just stick to creating threads for every possible offensive starter, waiting for one of them to hit and bumping said threads claiming to know more than everyone else. You're pretty good at that.
