Why isn't the Super Bowl on Saturday? (1 Viewer)

I never understood why the super bowl wouldn't be on Saturday. They have a week off before the game so they have plenty of rest time. I think it would bring in more casual fans cause more people would have parties.

Anyone heard of a reason why the NFL sticks to Sunday?

Because then the city hosting it will lose a day of hotel bookings, spending for local vendors, etc.

Yeah I suppose that could be it. Still sucks. I want to me able to enjoy my Super Bowl until late into the night.

This isnt always the case.

Personally, ever since they moved the SB to February, I've been glad they kept it on a Sunday. My wedding anniversary is on FEB 2 and if the SB ever fell on a Saturday I'd have to miss it. This way, the SB can fall on my anniverary on a Sunday, but it doesn't matter since I'd be celebrating on a Saturday night (the night before) anyway.

Because NFL games are played on sunday (today some on saturday/thursday/monday) but traditionally its sunday afternoon.

This will be my 6th year in a row in Vegas for the Superbowl which helps with enjoying your superbowl until late into the night.

We have a group of 8-15 who have been going for 10 years now. We're all Colts fans, so if you get the hankering, come downtown to the Four Queens and look for the BLUE!Go Colts!

Its alot easier to plan and have parties on Sunday than Saturday. Get your crap done on Saturday, kick back on Sunday. I wouldnt want it on a Saturday at all.
