18 games with 2 bye weeks would be great. I don't buy the whole injury argument. People are lost for the season during training camp. Should we shorten that as well???
The whole point is revenue and the fact season ticket holders are shelling out tons of dough for two meaningless games every year. In a perfect world there would be one game every night of the week Monday through Saturday and the remaining games on Sunday with byes worked around mid week games. I would just love to hear what Cuban and the NBA would say to that.

So if you take away 2 weeks of preseason, replace with 2 "real games" and add a 2nd bye week, who loses in that equation? It seems like wins across the board
- players hate preseason - problem fixed
- profits increased for owners
- fans get more "real" football to watch
- players get an extra week of rest during season
I guess the only arguement will come from the players union/players thinking that 18 games will shorten careers and thus they should get significant pay raises to go to 18 games. Personally, I don't think that is justified, but I'm sure that will be the arguement.
