Why was LT mad after the game? (1 Viewer)

Rounders

Besides because he lost. I missed most of the game, but caught the last 2 minutes.

What did I miss that made LT so mad? Was it just losing or something else?

Besides the loss itself...I assume it had something to do with the 15 yard celebration penalty called on the Patriots.

LT in the press conference:

"You guys know me. I'm a very classy person. Shawn Merriam [was disrespected]. They [NE] have no class. NO CLASS. Maybe it comes from their head coach, I don't know."

whoa, he just said that NE has no class and that it comes "from their Head Coach"

apparently he was mad cause they were doin the lights out dance at midfield after the game

ETA: Damn, too late

I just watched the press conference on NFL Network.

LT is a classy MVP RB.

He's wrong on this issue though.

Maybe Mike Ditka was right! LT certainly couldn't be wrong. He's a revered athlete.

Since when was celebrating a pressure packed playoff game a crime!? If SD had won they would not have celebrated?

Wow, all I've heard all year is what a great guy as well as player LT2 is, and then he pulls that crap after the game not shaking hands, and then pissin' in the press conf. Easy to be classy after wins, true colors after a loss? I'm surprised he's acted this way.

i don't think they'd put on a hoody and start pushing around cameramen. no

This stuff is too much. If LT would have been s*****g and grinning with some guy in the middle of the field, there would have been a thread on how he did not care about winning. The guy just played one the great alltime indivdual seasons in history and no other player on his team stepped up to help him during that playoff game. That's enough for the guy to be freaking pissed.

grammar edit

I'd be pissed too if my team/coaching staff squandering my MVP performance.

But was he really calling Pats classless for imitating loudmouth/showboat Merriman's celebration after the win? Please. I'm supposed to feel sorry bc my team mocks a guy who sends Lights Out paraphernalia and bag of popcorn (so he "can watch us in the playoffs") to Jason Taylor?

I hope he only sent Taylor one bag of popcorn, cause that's all he needed :goodposting:

:goodposting: Classy people always point out how classy they are.

It's certainly an image he wants to protect, but he utterly failed here.

By the way, did you know Tomlinson really likes Jim Brown and vice versa? Enough already.

:goodposting: Post of the Year.

Stuff like this (both the Pats celebration and LTs reaction/comments) are so blown out of proportion by the media and fans. You play a game that is driven by emotion for 3 hours, but you're supposed to be 100% rational and under control as soon as it ends? That's crap. It's called being in the heat of the moment, people. Move on.

I think what irked him was that after the miss they're standing mid-field imitating "lights out" (as a group).... guys imitate celebtrations all the time (see Houston vs. NYG this year with the jump shot as a clear example) - This one is after missing the field goal when the players really did nothing to cause the miss... the group celebrates "lights out" midfield sent him wild.Clearly, the fact that he didn't get the plays called his way in the second half is also on his mind...

LT looks like a little brat here. It's too bad because he's usually so clasy. I like the guy but he's making a mountain out of a molehill. My guess is the Merriman imitation stems from him picking the Jets over the Pats on national TV at halftime of last week's game. When's the last time anyone saw something like that? Sorry, but what comes around goes around.

Oh, LaDainian, you have the official classless celebration rule book? We've been looking all over for that thing.

Says right here, rule #12: "Thou shalt not mock my roid-freak, trash-talking, T-Shirt & popcorn mailing teammate."

Well, that's pure as the driven snow. Thanks for clearing that up for us.

Just saw another clip on TV, he said the Pats imitating Merriman's celebration dance is classless. So his teammate Merriman is also classless for doing that dance to show up the QB and O-Line of the team he just sacked, right? or is it OK only when his team celebrates something? Wow.

Sounds like a sore loser to me...
He is being a sore loser. And you know what, I don't blame him. He was THE thing that was working for t hem all day long and on their 2nd to last drive they call his number once? ONCE?!?! #### me, they have the Michael Jordan of football and on their most important drive of ever they throw a 7 yard out to Parker who has ####ed it up all day against Samuel? I don't care if it was called for Gates, on 3rd and 4 of the most important drive of the season you get the ball to the best player in the game. You're damn right he's sore - at his own ####### coaching staff. But he can't come out and blast them so he takes it somewhere else. Low class? Yeah. Understandable. Yeah

Maybe it is just me. But i dont want a drug using thug to be respected. Or even semi-respected. What I want is every hard working player to call him a cheater and DISREPECT him.

Cry more LT. James Brown is about to laugh at you.

I like the AP's semi-editorial take:

Tomlinson said he was upset that some Patriots were dancing on the Chargers logo at midfield after they had silenced the record crowd of 68,810 at Qualcomm Stadium and wrecked the Chargers' season.

"I would never react in that way. I was very upset," Tomlinson said. "When you go to the middle of our field and start doing the dance Shawne Merriman is known for, that is disrespectful. They showed no class and maybe that comes from the head coach."

Merriman did a spasmodic dance to celebrate each of his NFL-high 17 sacks.

That's saying a lot when the dead rise from the grave and mock you.....oh wait....has James Brown been buried yet?

Low class? Impossible. He said it himself -- we all know he's a classy guy.

Interesting comparison gr00vus.Jordan played a part in getting rid of Doug Collins. We'll see if LT helps escort Martyball out of town.

Its amazing how some people expect these athletes to be perfect every minute of every day. Have they never gotten frustrated when something didnt go their way, said something stupid, done something stupid???? We all have and we all will do it again. God knows if I had a camera in my face all the time you guys would eat me alive and I am willing to bet the same is true of all the people ripping players like LT and others all the time. Move on!

I feel bad for LT. The guy is a total beast and has possibly the best season ever at RB and his team lets him down in the playoffs. You definitly can't blame him for the loss.

Not saying I agree with LT making that comment, but I agree that the PAts lack class. After they beat the Eagles in the SB they were shouting "Make room for the winning team!" There was another instance of classlessness by the Pats in that game too, as reported in the Inquirer after the game, but I can't remember it.

Doesn't this put Handshakegate into proper perspective? At least Belichick didn't try to start a fight after the Jet loss.

If you have such strong feelings about steroids, you should stop watching pro football.

Or pull your head out of the sand.

Shawn Merriman sent Jason Taylor a "Lights Out" T-shirt which is his little slogan in SD...and he threw in a box of chips in the box for Jason Taylor. I have no link but i am sure others on here can verify this. (Low low low class)

You think Taylor might have called the Pats this week who he probably hates but has a great deal of respect for since they have 3 rings...you think he might have called those guys and said if you win, please do his dance on the 50 for me.

I'm just saying...

I understand LT's frustration but he has the power to run Marty out of town...LT will never do this though as Marty said he was the best he ever coached.

:topcat: "Make room for the winning team." Of all the lowdown, in-your-face, classless shouts...Oh, no they dint-in...Those crazy kids with their Dan Fogelberg music.

Nah. I can't believe he'd do that. Just my opinion though.
