Wickman gets creamed again (1 Viewer)

Capella

Three bad performances in a row now...probably would be too early to panic, if he wasn't almost 40 years old and 500 pounds...and didn't have two better relievers in front of him.

Anybody know anything on this?

Are you trying to will this to be true because you have Gonzo?

I don't think my powers work quite like that.
Well Wickman was the suck this past week not only blowing two saves, but costing Hudson a win. He's the most hated player on my roster.

I don't see Wickman losing his closer role anytime soon. He's been in this league, for what, 40 years now and he gets the job done. He did a great job for them last year when he came over from Cleveland and I think Bobby Cox knows he'll get his #### together. Also, he's pitched a lot in the past week so maybe he just need a couple of days off. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't get the opportunity tonight against the Phillies.

Stick with the Wick.

Wickman didn't cost Hudson that win.Hudson was awesome through 8, but was gassed. He should have been lifted, before the inning started, not after he loaded the bases with no outs.Of course, that being said, Wickman has looked like Jaba the Hut recently and maybe doesn't deserve the closers role. Atlanta's bullpen was a concern last year too. I don't think Cox is making a change yet, as Soriano always has injury concerns, and Wickman probably isn't an ideal setup man....plus a few questions in the starting rotation after the first three. Last I heard, Villareal may be put into a starters role again soon, so who knows.

I hear ya on Cox but....
Code:
B Wickman relieved T Hudson. 3	0M Olivo doubled to deep right center, M Cabrera and C Ross scored, A Boone to third. 3	2J Borchard intentionally walked. 3	2J Willingham hit for H Owens. 3	2J Willingham struck out swinging. 3	2A Amezaga singled to shallow left, A Boone scored, M Olivo to third, J Borchard to second. 3	3M Olivo scored, J Borchard to third, A Amezaga to second on wild pitch by B Wickman. 3	4
:goodposting:

I watched that game (Huddy owner here too)

It's a lot easier for a closer to come in with zero outs and the bases empty and get three outs, than to start the inning with the bases loaded. Not defending Wickman too much....but I blame Cox more so for keeping Hudson in when it was obvious he was done.

I agree with you here and you have to remember you are talking to a guy with Todd Jones as his team's closer. Jones is a :bye: if he comes on with any baserunners usually. Wickman and Jones are the same guy except Todd writes for the Sporting News and likes donuts a little less than Bob. But yeah, it was more Cox's fault than anyones in this case. Just hurt more for me since I had both Hudson and Wickman, that's all.

My powers can't be used to determine a closer. They CAN be used to get guys hurt and fat girls into my bed.
