Wifi Thermostat (1 Viewer)

So my wife had me install these new Wifi Thermostats that you can control via your smart phones.  I don't understand the settings that come with the unit.  High as 80 in the summer while you are sleeping or away from the house.  I was told that to let your house warm up in the daytime only to cool it later when you get home costs as much as if not more than keeping it 72 year around.  Supposed to cut down on heating/cooling bill, but I don't sleep with the temp at 80 anytime of the year.  I just went in and set it at 72 degrees all the time.
