Simple question. I say he doesn't stick around long enough to break the record. I'm thinking 5 more years or so. Which might put him over 700 and really force the issue for him.

This is not anticipating an injury or anything other than simply a desire not to play any more on his part.

I think there's going to be a lot of pressure for someone clean to break the record.One thing to remember is that since A-Rod doesn't use steroids, his body heals just like the rest of us. So an injury would actually slow him down, unlike Bonds. That's where ultimately A-Rod could falter, is due to injury.

Aaron didnt use steroids and he played many many years after he turned 32. And lets not let facts get in the way of things here but I think injuries have slowed down Bonds quite a bit. But again who needs facts?

I think and hope yes. But if Bonds ends up going to the AL as a DH, he could play a few more years and might be able to put it out of reach.

Say 275 more, A-Rod plays until he is 40.....about 35 per year. IF A-Rod stays healthy AND he wants to break the record, he WILL break the record.

I thinkhe does barring injury;

I have a hard time seeing Bonds going to the AL as a DH given the "controversy" surrounding him; I think Barry will hang em' up at the end of the year............... just MHO

We do not know for a fact that AROD has not used any performance enhancing medicine. I don't think that Arod will break the record. Arod does not handle pressure well and the pressure that will be put on him will be to much for him to get the job done.

Some guys love playing the game so much, they have to be forced out.

ARod strikes me as one of those guys. In his press conference, he talked about his passion for the game.

Because of baseball, Alex is an uber talented icon.

Without baseball, he is just another guy chasing down man-chicks at the local pub.

800 will be the new benchmark after ARod's career is over.

:kicksrock: Medicine? There are definitely medicinal purposes in some cases for using steroids and/or HGH. But, that ain't why Bonds and others were doping up.

I am not saying for medial reason that is is not ok to take steroids. Hell my wife got a steroid shot in the shoulder for a injury she had. Give it up on the Bonds hating. We know how you feel and that is cool. We will disagree about Bonds and his status of the record. We both agree he used steroids. You place blame only on him while I place blame on MLB as well. I also think that MLB also promoted the steroid era to get baseball back after the strike, you do not.
