Will Brandon Marshall play this week? HOMERS! (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
I think most others with him on their roster are going to be facing the same dilema. Luckily for me, I have options at WR but may gamble and use him as my flex play this week.

Any feedback on him leading up to week #1 will be great.

Thanks!

I would not start Marshall week 1 if I had him. Whats Brandon's motivation going into Week 1? Whos gonna start week 1 at QB? Orton? Thats a very risky start.

It seems like the same motivation that brought him back to practice this week? Paychecks and that he is in a contract year where season-long stats will either be his ammunition or used against him? If you have great alternatives, by all means use them, but if you are deciding between Marshall and Hixon, I like his chances.

Tough call. He's an elite talent, but does not know the offense. No way can he pick it up in a week. They are playing the Bengals, though. Could actually be a lot of points scored. I'd start him expecting WR 3 numbers maybe, with the chance he busts out.

Thanks for the responses thus far....and I will certainly weigh the feedback when it's ultimately time to make the decision. It's between him and Mason to start at Flex to go alongside Jennings and Ocho Cinco.

it's interesting how so many threads have a plea for homers to chime in. i understand why, but nowadays when the 3rd string holder farts too loud, it's on someone's blog or ticker within seconds and posted here within minutes. just sayin'.

Marshall doesn't want to play for the Broncos. Why do you think he comes out and gives it his all in the game?

If he plays and is not up to speed with the playbook as is widely reported, that would make my picking up Eddie Royal in my two bigger money leagues even better with the petulent baby on the other side acting as somewhat of a decoy for Eddie to rack up yards and receptions!

What are his other options? You think he's going to get paid at the end of the year if he tanks?
Exactly. He wants his $$$, he has to be a good boy. It may not be possible for him, but it's clear he has to play good soldier if he has any shot at getting the contract he wants.

and I have absolutely nothing to base this on but I would think that he knows the offense a lot better than he portrayed. His end game was to get traded so I think he was trying to do or say anything that would get him the results he wanted. I find it hard to believe that he could be in the OTA's, team meetings, at practice (either watching or participating) and know nothing about the playbook.

Or generate trade interest for what the Broncos are looking for? Seriously, playing his best for Denver and behaving is the only way he has a shot at what he wants.(I see some others beat me to this point)

The only question should be how much playing time will Marshall get? All this talk about the playbook and wanted to get traded in non-sense. Marshall problems have never been on the field period. We need to know is he going to start if not then how much playing time can we expect?

I wouldn't start Marshall but if he shows anything positive this week I start putting him in my lineup. Wait and see is my approach.

Start for who? I am sooooo waiting for the daily Brandon Marshall is going to be traded to XXXXXX thread. :lmao:

Actually, IMHO Marshall does not start but will play a good bit. BB Jr. will want to make a point, but realizes that Brandon is one of the best WRs in the game.

If he's smart he'll play him...this is one of the handful of games (against Cincy) that they can actually win this year...

Homers are much more likely to be clued into all the twitters and blogs for their teams and are less likely to have missed something than your average fan or owner.

Rod Smith: Brandon, you go get 100 catches for the 3rd straight year and you'll get paid!

Brandon: O.K. :moneybag: (with dollar signs in his eyes)

I am starting him as my WR3 over Donald Driver and Josh Morgan currently. The matchup against horrible Cincy is just too tempting, and something tells me that he wants to make a few headlines for himself.

I think that the sage advice... "see how he plays in a game first" specifically applies to Brandon. If he plays and more importantly shows that he now "gets it" he should be strong.

McD has said that Brandon was in all the WR and Team meetings and "should" know the offense. I believe that Brandon is "football smart" but "reality challenged", and so if he can get in a game should perform.

The Broncos are pretty banged up at the wr spot, so i would guess he'll start if not the 3rd wr at worst and is he a f.a at the end of the year? If so you would expect him to shut his mouth play up to his pro bowl level and then get payed, weather in Denver or some place else.

Also, in my humble opinion, more aware of which are credible, generally.

I am starting BEdwards over Marshall this week in one league and in another I am starting Marshall(no better option).....I think he plays this week....not sure how well considering the situation

Right now he has a IDGAF attitude. If he's batting passes down in practice, why wont he do that in a game? You trust that he will come out and give 100%? Thats very very risky. Josh McDaniels....is that you?

You actually believe that? I'd reserve my excitement until it comes from Marshall's mouth ...

That was 2 weeks ago. But to answer your question, I doubt McDaniels starts Marshall if he doesn't trust him to give 100% effort. For what it's worth, Marshall has reached out to Rod Smith and spoken to Shannon Sharpe since he was suspended and supposedly has a better/more positive outlook than he did when he got suspended. If he is still batting balls in practice and practicing his punting skills, I doubt he sees the field on gameday.

Do you really believe he will bat down a pass in a game? Marshall brings it on the field there is no question about that. He is playing for a new contract. I don't think he is that stupid to pull that crap in an actual game.

Well he is the coach that just suspended him and will be calling the plays so I think he probably knows more than any message board posters totally guessing. I still don't know that I would start him this week but I'd have to say that's pretty good news for Marshall owners. I think Marshall made his play, didn't get his way, had some talks with his agent/Rod Smith/God and realized that now he doesn't have a choice but to play and play well if he wants to get a big future contract with Denver or someone else.

I trust that he want's to get PAID (and he deserves to based on performance). We're also now talking any future suspensions costing game checks. That's another factor to consider here.

Getting paid and coming out and giving 100% are two different things...right? Just like he showed in training camp. He could come out, dog it...and get paid and you wouldnt know it. Maybe he doesn't run the route as crisp and doesnt get open...maybe he runs a route so fast on purpose and the pass is thrown behind him... IM JUST SAYIN ...give it 1 game...feel Marshall out..if you're on the fence with him or someone else...start the other guy. I wouldn't trust Marshall week 1.... just my opinion

Seems to make perfect sense to me, the harder/better he plays.......the more money he will command next season (with the Bronco's or a totally different team). Him going out and playing half azzed, would only seem to be costing him money/leverage in his next deal. I believe he (and his agent) are fully aware of that.

Yes I trust him 100% once that game starts. He has never shown me any reasons not to trust him on the field. yes I know in practice he threw his tantrum but he saw where that got him, no where. he wants to be great and he wants to get paid and he knows his next suspension will be a long one.

I have Marshall on multiple teams & while I'm not real concerned about his longterm production this season (& especially in dynasty leagues), I'm not sure how he's going to fare the first few weeks. As talented as Marshall is, that offense absolutely requires the QB & receivers to be in sync (at least for them to play at a high level). I still expect Marshall to outproduce Royal, but I could see BM getting off to a fairly slow start.

In one of my leagues, I'm deciding between Marshall/Moreno/DWard/Burleson, & I'm leaning to Burleson right now. Moreno is another player I have high expectations for, but he also could get off to a less-than-stellar start (because of his injury & a lack of work). All that said, I believe McDaniels could very well have the last laugh. It may not be this year, tho, LOL.

McDaniels: WR Marshall ready for Week 1 role

Brandon Marshall - WR - DEN - Sep. 8 - 6:40 p.m. ET

According to coach Josh McDaniels, Brandon Marshall's attitude since his return from suspension has been "great."

McDaniels said Marshall "absolutely" could make a significant contribution in Week 1. "Look, he's a good football player," McDaniels added. "If he's ready to go and we go through this week of practice and feel that's the direction we want to play on Sunday, certainly we all know what he can do as a football player." It's safe to tentatively slot Marshall into Week 1 fantasy lineups. Denver needs him with Jabar Gaffney out, and the matchup (@ CIN) is right.

"PRACTICE!...We're talkin about PRACTICE?....not a game, not a game....not a game.....but we're talkin about PRACTICE?!"

A famous quote I once heard.
