Will Champ shut down Ward this Sunday? (1 Viewer)

Last 5 games for receivers vs Champ:

wk 8, Harrison 5-38

not sure who Champ was covering before that but here are the numbers for the #1 or possible #1 receivers:

wk 7, Joe J 4-40-1, B Edwards 2-6

wk 6, R Moss 5-86

wk 5, D Mason 5-27, Heap 3-21, Clayton 5-27

wk 3, Gabriel 6-65-1, Watson 5-54, Caldwell 3-46.

Now I'd be perfectly happy with a 6-65-1 game but I'm thinking a 5-38 is more realistic due to Ben and the Oline's struggles.

Thoughts?

If Big Ben plays the way he did last week he will shut down Ward all by himself, however if your league lets you start CBs @ WR both Williams and Bailey will be good starts. I look for 3 receptions and maybe 2 TD's from Williams and Champ. Great bye week fills IMO.

I would probably look for other options, Denver D is tough.

Do you ever stop? It gets old. Paz, I wouldnt expect a huge game out of him. I would expect 5-6 receptions with a good chance he finds the endzone. Good enough for a WR 2/3 if you have him.

Actually it doesn't get old. Steeler fans have gotten to see something that he has never seen in his life--a superbowl victory for their team. Actually we've seen it 5 times now but thats beside the point.

i think Bailey always stays on the same side of the field. don't the Steelers move Ward all over the place?

Didn't we have a similar conversation about DeAngelo Hall a few weeks ago? You'd have to be stacked at WR to consider sitting Hines. Ward had 5-59-1TD against Denver in the AFC Championship last year, that was in a blowout where they ran the ball most of the 2nd half.

Ward had 8 catches for 81 yards last week.Ben threw for 300 yards and a TD (I won't mention the INT's)

I'm considering starting A Bryant over Hines due to the match-up, trying to talk myself off the ledge. :D

I'm in the exact same boat. Still mulling it.

right now I have Lee Evans at home with a good possibility of no C. Woodson (though Harris is there) and a lousy GB secondary over Ward. Will probably go back and forth all week though.

Seahags lost to the effin Chiefs. The Steelers destroyed the Chiefs.

Without their starting QB and star RB...and on the road. Poor comparison.I can't stand comparisons like that. "Well, since A beat B, and C beat A but lost to X and Y, that means Y (the Texans) are better than B (the Bears)." :loco: Weak attempt to simplify your side, is all.Every Sunday is different.

:goodposting: The Broncos defense is very tough so it cold be a long game for the Steelers. But Bailey had a bad game against the Steelers in the playoffs last year and he won't be covering Ward on every play anyway. Ward is Ben's favorite target, especially in the redzone. Unless you are deep at WR, I would play him.

Ward owners, what's your plan?
Bench him for Colston! I'm in one of those poosay leagues where I can play Colston at TE but then I'd have to bench Gates. Never knew $50 a team was a poosay league until I started reading the Colston threads. So, let me think about it... ...Ok I got it, Owens, Colston, and Gates in the starting lineup. Ward, Meshawn, and Evans on the bench.

The most important Sunday is Superbowl Sunday and the last Superbowl Sunday the Steelers kicked the Seahags azzes. :towelwave:

There seems to be a problem with the flag that you're waving, son.

It's not white.

I claimed Furrey(for the second time this year!) and have Bryant too, but I'm having a very hard time sending Hines to the pine.

Seems whenever I sit a "stud" for a match-up it comes back to haunt me.

I do expect a low scoring game in Pitt though, at least offensively speaking.

I couldn't agree more.Benching Hines scares me.

What a tough decision...Champ is truly a shut down corner.

I am down to Hines vs R.Moss vs L.Evans as my No.2 wr this week...I can see this going down until 12:59PM tomorrow.

Currently I am leaning toward R.Moss for a couple of reasons

1. Everyone gets up for playing on Monday Night

2. The seahawks have a pattern to giving up big plays

3. Champ Bailey

4. Roethlisberger looks bad...

on the other hand, Hines is very well known for showing up and having big games when he's not expected to by the critics.

GHAAADDDDDDD!!!! - hair pulling decision.
