Will Daily Leagues Replace Seasonal Leagues? (1 Viewer)

Only a single game into the season and already Eddie Lacy and Andre Ellington are battered and Josh Gordon and Wes Welker's suspensions are up in the air. Seems like the developments move so fast that the tools for seasonal leagues can't keep up. Do you think seasonal leagues will go the way of the dodo and that participation will shift to daily leagues, where it's easier to respond to developments?

Completely? Nope.

Is there a trend where some folks may gravitate toward daily? Sure. Too many guys who enjoy the ebb and flow of a year long team... especially in keeper/dynasty type leagues. I can see daily eating into pure redraft somewhat, but never replacing it fully, IMO.

nah, alot of people like to have "their" team, plus the draft in your buddies garage/basement is the best part of the league most of the time.

daily games are boring, no smack talk, no trophies to hold over your buddies heads

Agree on the draft being the best part of season long leagues. They'll never go away

BUT their is nothing boring about money. DFS is the greatest thing since sliced bread

I have 0 interest in daily leagues.Injuries are part of the game which is why most drafts have 16+ rounds.

Nail on head.

I've never really enjoyed redraft - it's so draft/luck dependent - but it'll probably never go away for more casual leagues. For me, dynasty is MUCH more enjoyable as you really get to influence things and 'play GM'.

I enjoy my couple Dynasty Leagues, doing redrafts, and doing dailys. All are different and one can't really replace the others. Although if I was to give any of them up the Dynasty leagues mean the most to me.

Daily leagues much like poker 5 years ago are saturated with fish atm. Give it a year they will dry up and be filled with sharks.

No, nothing will replace the camaraderie I have with my friends in seasonal leagues. Daily leagues are basically gambling.

Replace? No.

Surpass? By some measures, yes. I think daily games have already surpassed traditional leagues in terms of the amount of money changing hands. In terms of just popularity -- how many people play each one -- traditional leagues are still in the lead, and may stay that way.

Any type of data to validate that more money is changing hands on daily leagues?

Fanduel and Draftstreet have combined to raise about $150m in venture capital within the last year. I don't know how much money is actually changing hands in those leagues, but it has to be huge if investors are sinking that kind of coin into the enterprise.
