will favre retire? (1 Viewer)

All depends on if Minny wins SB....... Thats the only time I would be truley convinced he is done for good.

what do you think? :)

Given how well he has played, why should he?
Statically he had his best year ever. A lot depends on how far they get in the playoffs, how he plays. And if he has the drive to do it one more time. But it's hard to argue with his production this year. And the Vikings won't be in a hurry to kick him out.

The Vikes will be begging him behind close doors to come back win or lose this year. We have no one in place to make another run. It will be rebuild the defense mode with Winfield and Williams getting older. EJ's leg injury, not sure when or if he will be 100% again. After next year, Chicago will have caught up, GB may pass us by.

what do you think?

The only situation in which Favre comes back next year is if the Vikes lose a close NFC championship game. If they do bad in the playoffs, he's done. If they make it to the Super Bowl (win or lose), he's done.

Who cares?

(let me guess, you're wondering whether you should pick up Tavaris Jackson in the offseason in your dynasty league?)

The number of times he retires this offseason will be directly dependent on how often he is in the news. If he is out of the spotlight for a little while he will retire or un-retire (depending on where he left off last).

A few weeks ago I would've said no, but after hearing about his little rift with Chilly, it's tough to say.

I'm hoping he really does despise Childress and that convinces him to finally retire. He's under contract with them next year, too, so it's pretty much them or nobody. I doubt he'll bother trying to manipulate his way to another team yet again at his age.

If things are good with Chilly, I think he'll stick around as long as they're still willing to offer him special treatment in terms of skipping the offseason stuff (and of course they will be). He may drag it out, but then his daughter will just turn on the water works again and he'll come back.

If they don't win the SB he'll be back. He doesn't know when to quit. After the season he had this year he should be done, but he thinks he can do it forever. As a Green Bay fan I really hope he comes back....it would cause Minny to ignore the future at QB again, Peterson and the OL would be another year older with more wear, and I don't see a good follow up to the season Favre just had.

of course he'll retire-he does every year!
:kicksrock:IMO Brett will be playing next season. He may retire during the offseason and not maybe not even start playing right away week 1, but I'm betting he's playing before week 8 of 2010.

Maybe...some might depend on the vikings late season schedule next year.

If its like this year with just the one late game in Chicago and everything else in some warmer weather or the Dome...then I think its more possible.

if its late games against Green Bay and/or Chicago plus another colder game...I think that could factor in.
