Will Indy be forced to punt even once in the Super Bowl? (1 Viewer)

I was in the Dome. Seems like the Vikings punted a couple of times, when they weren't dropping the ball, that is.

If the Saints can bring the kind of pressure they brought against the Vikes they will win the game. Manning is a great QB but he curls up like a little girl whenever anyone gets close to him.

Not sure what that has to do with the Super Bowl in Miami against a better QB.... but okay.
The Saints had to worry about the RB's (yeah I know about the fumbles but they didn't stop running) against the Vikings; the Colts running game is not near as threatening. How will the Colts D'backs hold up against a more potent and diverse receiving corp? Freeney and Mathis will pressure Brees; this should be a good one. Maybe neither team will punt!!!

You know, we also have a pretty good offense and we'll be playing against a worse defense...but okay?
If the thread title was "How many times will New Orleans punt?", this post might be relevant. And LOL at the Saints "playing against a worse defense" in the SB. Indy gave up fewer points and passing yards per game than Minnesota.

Minnesota has scored more points and have more yards on offense then Indy. Just saying...

I'm on Candid Camera, right?Minnesota's offense, and their defense, played a road game yesterday.

Not if the Saints Defense creates 6 turnovers like they did against the Vikings today.
Check Manning's career TD/INT ratio against Favre's.
You work for ESPN Raider fan? Might as well, Farve actually had a pretty decent season of limiting his turnovers until he faced a defense that knows how to create them. But lets not credit the Saints shall we? Its the national media and folks like you that will keep the Saints exactly where we need them to be: Under the radar and lurking for the kill. All I see on the networks after this great game was Favre choked, Favre should have ran 5-6 yards etc and idiots who continue to say we should of lost that game.Folks are so butthurt that they don't get their little Favre and Manning fantasy. People have mouthed off against the Saints all year and where has that gotten them? they told us that the Saints were one and done because we lost our last three regular season games. They told us we didn't have the defense to handle the cardinals vaunted passing attack. They told us we couldn't match the magic of Brett Favre, AD, Harvin and the best pass rush in pro-football. Now the Saints are being told we have no chance to beat the Colts who are lead by the legendary Peyton Manning and also it will be the most lopsided superbowl in recent memory. This talk is playing right into the Saints hands.

Don't you have a pitcher of petro-chemical tainted, ground water contamination kool-aid to keep drinking??

Is this a Katrina reference? If so it is not funny one bit. I get the koolaid part but was the other really needed. Anyway, there is no such thing as a sure thing in the Superbowl. The Patriots fans could have been drinking Koolaid if they thought they were going to beat the greatest show on turf (Rams), The Giants didnt have a remote chance to beat the Patriots who had just set up a chance at the perfect season. etc. etc.The Saints and Indy are much closer than either of those two Superbowls. So you dont have to be drinking Koolaid to think your team could win this.

I've learned that whatever happened the week before, is going to happen in the next game. That is why we got the Cowboys/Chargers Super Bowl everyone predicted. I'm picking the Chargers because they won more consecutive games before the playoffs started.

The Super Bowl moreso depends on whether Brees resorts to form and is deadly accurate as he was most of the year, and not Jamarcus'ish, as he was the last month.

Manning made some incredible throws to beat the Jets.

I don't think Brees made one throw in his game that wowed me at all. Minnesota looked much scarier, but their turnovers gave a game away they probably would've easily won without them.

I wouldn't underestimate the Saints though. If you'd have told me 4 weeks ago the Jets would roll over the Chargers, I'd have laughed and given you 14 points.

Wow, no love for the Saints. I'm not sure what plan Indy has of slowing down the Saints, who's offense is better in every category. Indy's defense isn't horrible, but its by no means great. I mean, c'mon they let Sanchez go 17/30/257. Brees might throw for 1000 yards if the colts keep it close.

And the Colts run defense has not gotten better against teams that pose a double threat. They will not be able to stop Pierre because they will be on their heels from the passing attack.

Obviously this one will come down to turnovers. Oh, and Manning has 16 INts on the year versus 9 for Brees - so again, I'm missing something with all of this career td/int, manning is god talk. If Manning is so unstoppable then whats up with his losing playoff record?

Here I was wondering who would be favored and you guys are laughing at the impending blowout.... is the vegas line more than 4 or 5?

Now, gentlemen, let me ask you this: What if Da Colts were all 14 inches tall, you know, about so high? Now, what's your score of today's game?

The very premise of this thread all but guarantees a dominant defensive performance by the Saints.

Good going, OP. I was rooting for Peyton.

Football fans and "experts" have a one week memory. Colts looked better last week, so they'll roll next game. Colts are a great team, but this thread and a few others make it seem like they're playing the '08 Lions.

I have to think Freeney will shoot up that ankle and play since it's the SB ... but I'm betting he'll be pretty much one-legged for the game.

You can already see that the Saints fans are going to be worse than the Patriots fans ever were if New Orleans wins.
The ones in this thread are just picking up the OP's rifle and returning fire. It's not like obnoxious Saints' fans are thread####ting in some unrelated thread.

Do you play offense, defense or special teams? :goodposting:

Next time the Jags are in the Superbowl, let us know if you feel differently.Good grief, we've walked in the desert 40+ years man. Let us have this one.

OK, I'll take the bait. The Colts punted at least twice in every game this year. And the Saints scored almost 100 more points than the Colts did.

The good thing is, you won't see any of us for about 2 months after if we win, because that's when the party will finally wrap up. :goodposting:

This Saints team has NEVER faced a QB that is in the same league as Peyton Manning though (excluding when they faced him a few years ago).
We just knocked snot outta two other HOF QBs in the last coupla weeks, tho.I'll be shocked if Manning takes every snap in this game.

You apparently forgot that Manning has only been sacked 10 times this season - Favre 34 times. There's a bit of difference between the O-lines.

Yeah, he's pretty fragile and is slow to make decisions. Hope Painter is ready.

Sure Vegas will lay out an O/U bet on the punt situation. Didn't research it but has there ever been a superbowl with no punts? I'd like to see Indy not have to punt the ball. Regardless of how many times they DO punt, which I don't think will be many, Archie's boy gets his 2nd ring against his dad's old team.

Yea, six turnovers and you still have to go to overtime to beat a team with a 40 year old qbLOL vs Indy, its over by half time for the Saints, just sayin
2009 Postseason--Indy -- 25 ppgNO -- 38 ppg2009 Regular season--Indy -- 26 ppgNO -- 32 ppgI'm just sayin......

very very true, Peyton doesn't get hit alot but he will get off his game if u can keep up the pressure(his happy feet get even happier). i know Manning is the next iron man after Favre, but does anyone really think any other QB can take the hits Favre took last week and keep getting up? that was a rocky balboa type performance. its not like Favre was holding onto the ball too long either , how many quick outs-lighting quick slants did he throw? half the offense was getting rid of the ball as quickly as possible to counter the pressure. i think the vikes WR's are better at that aspect than the colts. i think Clark and Collie are going to have to be a major players in the slot(or Wayne if he's moved around alot more) for alot of quick or hot reads from manning from the pressure. the colts offense is awesome but i think they are equipped differently, they are more finesse and precision where the vikings have more size/blistering speed options.

The game will be high scoring. I'd probably put my money on NO to win, though. Indy's D hasn't seen a good QB in a very long time.

I doubt NO's D will shut down Indy, but I think NO can win a shootout.
