Will Jake Plummer go all Peyton Manning now? (1 Viewer)

GRIDIRON ASSASSIN

Do you think Jake will blame his offensive line and blitz pickups, without really blaming them (like Peyton Manning did last week)?I say no.

Yes Plummer's 4 turnovers had nothing to do with the loss. Pittsburgh won as a team and beat Denver in every area of the game.

No, Jake has more class than that!

As much heat as Manning took this week after his comments, Jake Plummer would have to be stone cold stupid to say anything remotely bad about his team, true or not.

:rolleyes:Just what we need, another Dr Phil-like thread. cmon grid, you're better than that......yeesh

I feel kind of bad for Plummer ... the media's already started talking about him "reverting to form" (Linda Cohn did it on ESPN News). It's amazing, really. He had 2 (borderline 3) bad games this whole season, and yet some in the media report like those games are the true Plummer and the other 16 games aren't.I look forward to having him as the Broncos' QB for many more seasons.

I wonder how many minutes Denver was tied or had a lead this season compared to being behind by 7-10 points.I wouldn't lay the blame solely at his feet, but his INT in the 1st half 2:00 drill definitely hurt a ton. It could've been 17-10 going into the half, but instead it was 24-3.This was a game when he had to come up big to cover for the defenses shortcomings and he didn't get anything going until it was too late to reasonably expect a comeback.

Maybe it's about time people started giving the Pitt D some credit, rather than this crazy notion that pro bowl QB's just shriveled up and died for no apparent reason in two consecutive weeks.

Oh, I totally agree there ... that pick was huge.I just think it's unfair that if he makes a mistake, it's "the real Jake coming back". When is he just Jake Plummer, a very good QB who, like all QBs, makes mistakes every now and then?

When he changes his last name to Favre.
Favre doesn't make mistakes, his picks are always a result of the WR messing up or something. ;)

Did you not, for at least a breif moment, think, "Why have I been defending this guy this long? maybe they are right..." I sure did.

I'll admit to doing the same thing. But at the end of the day, can I really be too upset with a QB who's led the Broncos to 3 straight playoff seasons, something they never did in the Elway era?

Can't we at least give the guy some credit? (We = national media)

You know, that being said, Plummer's play today did remind me of the Great #7 in his younger years - scrambling around, finding the open man, forcing the occasional balls and throwing too many picks...Of course, Elway was tougher to bring down and had a better arm, and once Reeves/Phillips left, his stats improved significantly.

Bottom line: Plummer had a great season, but had a bad game. The media will feast on this, but (with the exception of Smith and Lynch) this is a young team and exceeded what was expected.Couple that with two 1st round picks and this team will be back. Next year's schedule is going to be tough, but there is no reason Denver cannot repeat.I am sad to say this, but Denver loaded this defense to go after Indy, but I am afraid they will overreact and look to a "playmaker" (ala T.O.) to help the offense give them options.
