Will Jerome Mathis make it to the field this year? (1 Viewer)

Any help from the Houston homers would be appreciated regarding Jerome Mathis (KR/PR). We score points for kick returns and punt returns and he would be a great #3 WR if he ever gets on the field in our league. Anyone know anything about his status? I would love to add him to my roster if there was a chance he is back in the next couple weeks.

Thanks,

He is scheduled to practice for the first time tommorow (Wednesday). If he is able to go full-speed, he should be active and in the lineup on Sunday -- even if that means exclusively as the kick returner to begin with.

Thanks for the info!!!!! I have been looking and haven't found any info on him. Where was that posted? Or is that local news?

Man I love this board

Thursday update

Jerome Mathis practiced Wednesday for the first time this season. But Kubiak said Mathis, recovering from a fractured left foot, isn't ready to play. Mathis is on the physically-unable-to-perform list and the Texans must decide by the end of next week if he can play this season or if he should be placed on njured reserve. After practice he sat at his locker and gently rubbed his bare foot and talked about the frustration of missing the last nine games. "There were times when I wanted to just give up and I was feeling down and starting to think I wasn't going to be able to bounce back from it," he said. "But I just had to believe in myself. I feel good right now."

The Texans were able to catch their first glimpse of Pro Bowl returner Jerome Mathis on Wednesday. Mathis, who has missed the season because of foot surgery, was able to practice and said he fully expects to return in the next couple of weeks. Mathis has already been ruled out by the Texans for this Sunday, but he could be activated as early as the Nov. 26 game against the New York Jets. "It was sort of a rush today," Mathis said. "It's been a long six months, and it was good to really get out there, get the first day behind me and move on from there". Mathis ran Tuesday and said his foot felt good. He said it was a little sore after Wednesday's short practice, but that is to be expected. The Texans will now wait to see how he reacts after an entire week of workouts.
