Will Mike Shanahan pick up Loco Barlow? (1 Viewer)

If Shanahan really said that about LT/Barlow, then I would say that was his absolutely most wrong opinion in his life. That includes his opinion on Clarett.

What he said was given that LT was guaranteed to go in the top 5, that Barlow was the next highest RB on their board.

Remember that Denver ranks their RBs not by talent, but who best fits into the zone blocking scheme.

So when you hear that Shanny ranked this guy the highest in the draft, it's not based on his talent analysis, it's based on what guy will be best in the Denver situation. That is what everyday fantasy folk don't understand.

This thread is old boring news and even if Shanny once thought that I doubt he feels that highly of Barlow with his many failures. No doubt someone will give Barlow a chance to earn a roster spot as a free agent but there is no hidden gem coming from Barlow.

I can see Shanahan picking up Barlow at a bar when it's closing time and all the good looking guys have already left with someone.

Completely false. Let me set the record straight. At the end of the first day of the draft, Mike Shanahan called Bill Walsh (consultanat for the 49'ers at that time) and congratualted him for drafting the best RB in the draft. That's what was said.

Isn't that all moot at this point though since everyone has seen his game go downhill basically since he's been in the league. Next stop is unemployment.

Yes the call went to Walsh, but again it was for the best available RB in the draft. LT was not a RB that SF or Denver had a crack at unless both traded up.What you can mock Shanny on is that he thought Barlow was better than McAllister, M.Bennett, A.Thomas, L.Jordan, T.Henry, J.Jackson, T.Minor, R.Johnson, George Layne, C.Buckhalter, Derrick Blaylock, Chris Barnes, Dee Brown, Dan Alexander. Barlow is not the best of that bunch. I would have him in 7th or 8th in that list.
