So, in one of my money leagues I am in the Super Bowl, and my opponent had one QB rostered (Cutler.)

Upon hearing of Cutler's benching I promptly hit the wire and added 4 of the remaining 6 starting QBs to my roster, leaving him to choose from Manziel and Clausen. Ethically I think this is fine, I beat him to the punch - but will the FF gods punish me for such a #### move?

I personally wouldn't do it but it's his own fault for not having a decent backup. Especially since he's relying on Cutler. If he had someone like Rodgers or Luck I could understand it but anyone relying on Jay Cutler really should've had a plan B in place.

I disagree on that. Manziel was awful, but he was facing a better pass D than he will this week and he now has a start under his belt. Clausen is facing the #2 total yards D, #2 INT D and #5 sack D in his first start since 2010 a year in which he was so bad the Panthers were able to get Cam Newton. Clausen could do a ton better than I think, but I don't think he will.

Agreed, while I wouldn't want to win like that if it was a friendly league (if it was big $$$ and I didn't care about/for the other person, maybe/probably), it is his fault for not having a backup. I have Cutler on one team and I am in the championship this week and I am carrying 3 other QBs and got RG3 on waivers for Fitzpatrick. I started Cutler because my other 3 are garbage, but it is looking like RG3 for the win. With as bad as Cutler has played, it is asinine to not have other QBs on your roster.

Also, how can you watch the Monday night game and not think that he may possibly be benched and you should get another QB on waivers? I was worried that he might not get me 2.1 points after he threw the 3rd pick. I was legitimately worried that he had enough points for my win, then didn't and he might not play anymore. Thank goodness he did, but I was worried about him getting pulled on Monday.

absolutely legal move - but complete **** move - taking one or two of the better options would have been slightly less dickish, but it all depends on league makeup. I would never do this in a buddies league, and probably would not do it in a acquaintances league - but in a strangers league I would do it if it were within the rules.

Since this is the last week of the season, why not drop Lamar Miller and Rashad Jennings as well for the last two quarterbacks left just for the schtick factor here in this thread?

Except the rest of the league should not be making roster moves in the championship week(s).

I have no issue with an active team in the playoffs making any moves they want. While I would be ticked if I was the opponent I would see it as a shrewd play. I would have an issue with teams completely eliminated from the playoffs (other than dynasty) making waiver wire acquisitions.

For instance this week Asiata had been dropped to waivers Sunday morning last week. While my RBs are Charles, Lacy, Forsett, and Davis I still picked him up to block my opponent from potentially playing him in week 1 of the championship game against me. I see this is a strategic move between two teams as opposed to completely out of the picture owners coming back to screw one team or the other over.

I'll never presume to know just how the fantasy gods plan to smite anyone. The goal is to try to win so I don't see a problem here. You didn't collude with anyone to put your opponent in this pickle. I would probably not go to this extreme if I were friends with a bunch of people in the league but in your situation with only knowing one other person I would have certainly picked up one or two of the better options available.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with this move and others shouldn't call it a doosh move either because the way I look at it, part of the strategy of FF is having a FULL team ready to play. That includes backups and having the forethought to have a contingency plan.

Your opponent likely benefited all year by having extra roster spots that he chose to put into other players. For all we know, instead of him carrying Bridgewater or Kaep, maybe he used his spot on snagging a couple of Asiatas, Shoelace Robinsons, CJ Andersons, etc. So for all we know, those moves then are what got him here now.

So now the other shoe falls and the law of averages balances out and the Karma gods will not smite you because there has been no injustice. He simply leveraged his strategy then and you have now. You are both on fair and even ground as far as universal justice is concerned. PLAY BALL!

Well, Julio is a question so clearly the Douglas is handcuff of sorts so he likely carried 5 WRs. He is obviously thin at RB but if the league uses a Flex he made up that spot with a WR.

Cutler had performed "fine" fantasy wise, and many people don't carry backup QBs past bye weeks. He likely had to battle to get a TE backup with Thomas out so calling this owner "stupid" only incites the Fantasy Gods.

man I must play in some really cheap leagues.....thats a lot of cash on the line in my fantasy world....roster managment is crucial in leagues with that few roster spots......he was probably always counting on being able to snag a decent QB if something happened to Cutler, now it's biting him in the #### cause he chose to roll the dice.....sometimes it takes strategic moves like this to initiate league changes and to also teach other owners a lesson on roster management.....people sometimes forget when talking about all the "buddy" stuff, that this is still a "game" that many of us put a lot of time into.....roster mangement is part of the game, defensive moves or "playing keep away" is a huge part of this hobby/sport.....owners do it all the time....owners pick up players they don't "need" all the time just so others guys can't use them...."keep away" is probably one of the most underrated stratigies in this hobby.....

Oh, I by no means have a problem with the move. But as I said, the Fantasy Gods have their way and us mortals have ours. His humility and recognition of the error of his ways may serve to please the Fantasy Gods in some way that we just cant understand.

cool....in the end it will make your league better and more competitive, because you have just put them on notice that these types of things can happen.....it will lead to guys paying more attention to their rosters and being more diligent/strategic with their moves.... or in this case....lack of moves

The fact that this dude is in the finals makes me feel like its his destiny to win. He snuck into the playoffs with an under .500 record and ousted the 1 and 4 seed. I was the 6 seed (with the 2nd most points though) and ousted the 2 and 3. It's a 6 vs 8 battle for supremacy so I will take every edge I can get. Of course with my luck Clausen probably puts up 330/3.

Once the bye weeks are over, if you're in a position to make the playoffs, you need to drop dead weight that has very little chance to start, and replace it with extra QBs, RB handcuffs, etc.

I live in CO and I think something is going on with Julius besides the injury......both he DT are up for contracts next year, and DEN might not sign both.....I think Julius knows this and has been complaining about not having a contract and I don't think DEN likes his "headspace" right now....I could be wrong but gettingthe vibe that in addition to the injury, maybe because of his attitude, they may be phasing him out a little added to the fact they are running more.....don't get me wrong, I know that makes zero sense cause JT is a offensive threat, but something is going on and Virgil Green is getting a ton of PT....
