Will the Real Lance Moore (1 Viewer)

Everywhere I have read about LMoore is that Colston is money, the rest of the Saints WRs are a crapshoot. Now that LMoore is healthy, it can't just be plain luck on whose getting the rock each week. The NFL is all about matchups. Huge game against the Giants and then 2 catches against the Dolphins. This week they play the Falcons, whose secondary is in complete shambles.

Will Atlanta play deep coverage, trying to prevent the Saints from scoring quick, meaning leaving alot under coverage area open or some other technique. I'm leaning Moore will get 5-6 targets underneath during the game and should be able to catch all of them. Other thoughts?

A healthy Shockey and Reggie Bush are hurting Moore's numbers more than the other Wr's on the team. With Moore you have a crap shoot, one week he will get you points and the next week nothing. Good luck

I think us Moore owners will have to wait until Colston is injured. That seems to be when he has the most consistent games. Ugh.

Colston is the stud and then things filter down to the rest of the group. I agree that Shockey and Bush have taken away the short passes that Moore thrived on last year. He is still a solid start at WR3 in most leagues because he will see targets and can explode on any given week.

Man, he was money last year, but as others are noting his value will only skyrocket with an injury to Colston. I have a sneaky suspicion he does very well this week as Atlanta takes away the deep passing game leaving him and Shockey to clean up... I'm trying to pick between Moore, Floyd, and Walter this weekend as my number two WR with other guys on bye...I'm ready to flip a coin between Floyd and Moore

There's another thread about the NO offense where someone posted stats from last year: L.Moore had his best stats last year WITH Colston in the lineup. His catches are shared with Shockey and Re Bush...I think those are the guys to watch for if you hope for L.Moore's numbers to jump.

I think part of it is Moore just working back into things. He should steady out to where it's a reliable play at least as flex/WR3 and I'm optimistic as WR2. Brees spreads the ball around really well, and he knows he can rely on Moore when he needs him.

I don't think this is rocket science. Last year Colston, Shockey and Bush struggled with health issues and Meachem wasn't ready to contribute. Moore was a healthy, consistent option through all of that.

This year all of that competition for catches has stayed relatively healthy while Moore was injured to start the year.

Unless some of those guys go down, Moore will continue to be hit or miss.

As the OP is pointing out, there will be offensive and opposing defensive gameplans that dictate more snaps for Lance, but even if you feel pretty confident he will be out there, there are still just too many targets to feel confident in Moore producing. I have no doubt he'll have a few more big games though.

Not sure I totally agree with this statement. I know just looking at the last 2 games is a very small sample pool but here is what we haveGiants gameBush 1/7Shockey 4/37Moore 6/78Miami GameBush 3/16Shockey 4/105Moore 2/18The only real difference is Shockey's yardage. Not targets.....

The ATL game looks like a helluva matchup and I will be in that number.

Trying to decide between the paltry choices of SSmith2 (NYG) or Jennings or Lance.

I would not be surprised if he has another good game vs ATL, whom CBS has as 27th in pass defense.

Thi9ng is he was out for so long and he has been out of the game plan.

I kind of think the Miami game was an aberration, for whatever reason it seemed like in th passing game there was little room for anything but Colston, Shockey and Bush, regardless of whatever the stats say.

And I also think the increased reliance on a booming run game is taking some of the possession looks from Moore.

Talking about last year I think I recall he had one down game soon after Colston came back, and some people just dropped him, thinking the looks had dried up. And of course he kept on being a part of things.

My hunch is the Miami game was an aberration and the NYG game was more like his real role in the offense. Watch that first drive vs ATL and I'm guessing if he's a part of that he will be a part of the whole gameplan. Just a theory. Not sure I have the guts to start him though, but thinking about it.

As a Miami fan I will say that the reason Shockey did well against us is that we can't cover any TE's, it really doesn't matter who you are and if you are good, ie. Shockey, Tony G, Dallas Clark you will have a huge day.

Miami's corners are good and they can get pressure so they can shut down a lot of average receivers, this leads to the big guys usually stepping up as we still can't cover a really good WR either.

I have Moore and I'm hoping he pans out but there's too many options there right now, if some injuries pop up later in the season, his targets will probably increase and so will his stats.
