Willie Parker didn't practice for the second day in a row and could miss the Steelers' game at Cincinnati Sunday.
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said after practice today that Parker is "day to day."
"We're still hopeful toward Sunday," Tomlin said, "but maybe not as hopeful as we were earlier in the week."
Parker has not played in the Steelers' last two games because of a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee. Parker had said he would return following the Steelers' bye week and he practiced Monday.
The two-time Pro Bowler, however, aggravated the knee injury working out on his own Tuesday, said Steelers coach Mike Tomlin.
If Parker doesn't play against the Bengals, Mewelde Moore will again get the nod at running back
Moore started for Parker in the Steelers' 26-21 win over the Jaguars on Oct. 5 and rushed for 99 yards on 17 carries.
In addition to Parker, starting left tackle Marvel Smith (back) didn't practice today and starting nose tackle Casey Hampton (groin) practiced on a limited basis.
Tomlin said it is too early to tell if either will play Sunday.
Is hopeful the new NFL designation between Questionable and Doubtful?"We're still hopeful toward Sunday," Tomlin said, "but maybe not as hopeful as we were earlier in the week."
Where does this come from..?? Is he working with the 1st team ..?? Getting Goaline carries..?I followed him at Minnesota and saw his talent but never really had the work ethic or oppurtunity ...No practice today, if he doesn't practice tomorrow, Russell may be a sneakey pickup.
Yea, WTF, Russel is a poor man's L. White, and he ain't no rich man to start with...Forget Russell, Moore is the start. This guy is just trying to throw folks off track
That was my thinking when I added him - that FWP may be slow to returnm and that Moore might be a great 4-5 week option. I just can't figure out how to work him into my starting lineup. If Willie has re-aggravated his sprained MCL by stepping in a hole, imagine how the knee will react when he's making cuts at full speed and getting hit. This doesn't sound good to me. I'm guessing he'll have issues with the kneee - on and off - throughout the season. Mewelde could be a nice option not only this weekend but for the rest of the year. PIT RB's put up solid numbers year in and year out.
I hear you. I've got Lynch, CJ3, and Ronnie. I'm trying to package Moore and Harrison to the FWP owner for Boldin or Randy Moss. That was my thinking when I added him - that FWP may be slow to returnm and that Moore might be a great 4-5 week option. As a a Moss owner, I'd think hard, but you aren't getting Boldin without upping the RB.I hear you. I've got Lynch, CJ3, and Ronnie. After Willie he's got McGahee, Edge, Lendale, and DeAngelo. With those options he just might trade me Boldin - you never know. I can always "back down" to Moss.As a a Moss owner, I'd think hard, but you aren't getting Boldin without upping the RB.I hear you. I've got Lynch, CJ3, and Ronnie. That's exactly what I did. Maroney makes me ill - he's the classic underacheiver. Moore will score points while Maroney plays "30 questions" with the press on why he sucks so badly.Would you drop Maroney for Moore right now? I currently have Turner, DeWilliams, Stewart, Morris and Marphoney.I'm highly considering it. PPR league.
Maroney's an easy drop in a PPR league. I'd have zero issue dropping him any week for any 1 week pickup. Are you going to start Maroney ever? Doubtful IMOAnd with Turner on a bye, Moore's starting for you this week. (And probably your best RB option if Parker's out)Would you drop Maroney for Moore right now? I currently have Turner, DeWilliams, Stewart, Morris and Marphoney.I'm highly considering it. PPR league.
This trade just accepted and completed. My Moore/Harrison for his R. Moss. Now I need a minor miracle in NE with Cassel throwing to my new WR#3. Considering I just scooped Moore up off the WW yesterday, I don't mind at all rolling the dice on Moss. If you're holding Moore and don't need him, rush out now to your friendly neighborhood FWP owner and see what you can get. After Willie he's got McGahee, Edge, Lendale, and DeAngelo. That was a bad trade for you. moore could be there the rest of the year. Harrison is back on track. This trade just accepted and completed. My Moore/Harrison for his R. Moss. I feel cleansed. I just dropped Maroney (who was one of my five keepers) and feel like I don't need to deal with his week in and week out BS.If anything, I start Moore this week and use him as trade bait with the FWP owner.Maroney's an easy drop in a PPR league. I'd have zero issue dropping him any week for any 1 week pickup. Are you going to start Maroney ever? Doubtful IMOAnd with Turner on a bye, Moore's starting for you this week. We'll see. As mentioned earlier I've got Lynch, Ronnie, and CJ3 in a start 2 league, so it's doubtful Moore would ever have seen the light of day. I've got Fitz, Calvin, Ward, and Curtis and we start 3 WR's, so I don't mind at all having Moss as my WR#3 over Harrison. Ward and Curtis are there just in case Moss decides to take the rest of the year off. This trade has nothing but upside as far as I'm concerned. That was a bad trade for you. moore could be there the rest of the year. Harrison is back on track. This trade just accepted and completed. Smith, Parker, Hampton likely out for Steelers

Running back Willie Parker (knee), offensive tackle Marvel Smith (back) and nose tackle Casey Hampton (groin) all are expected to miss Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
None were full participants in practice today, though Hampton was a partial participant. Hampton said he might test his injured groin in warm-ups but likely won't be back until the Steelers play the New York Giants on Oct. 26.
Mewelde Moore will start in place of Parker, Max Starks in place of Smith and Chris Hoke in place of Hampton.

Willie Parker (knee) will not play in Week 7 against Cincinnati.Coach Mike Tomlin said Thursday that he was "hopeful" Parker could practice Friday, but Willie didn't and may not even make the team flight to Cincinnati. Mewelde Moore will start and makes for a decent RB2 play in any format because of the favorable matchup. Gary Russell will be second string with Najeh Davenport third. It's uncertain when Parker will be healthy again.
Now that Davenport has had some time to practice a bit with the team since his signing, any chance we see more of him and less reliance on MM as a primary back?Pittsburgh radio also reporting that Willie Parker will not play Sunday at the Bengals.
It's possible, but none of the published articles at either newspaper suggest that anything will be different than in the game at Jacksonville. In my opinion, Moore is simply a better RB than Davenport, and Gary Russell is a stronger short-yardage back than Davenport. Now that Davenport has had some time to practice a bit with the team since his signing, any chance we see more of him and less reliance on MM as a primary back?Pittsburgh radio also reporting that Willie Parker will not play Sunday at the Bengals.
I doubt it. MeMo will be the primary guy and Najeh will slide back into the third down role he had last year. Russell will be used to give Moore a break from time to time.Gary Russell is the one to watch if this injury lingers. Mewelde is a great 3rd down back, Russell is more of the complete back. Just my 2 pennies.
Heh, same situation here with same 3 players...Im glad i have Moore now...good fill in for Turner's bye week rather thn hoping Deangelo gets enough carries.
