WIS V All-Time Baseball Draft: HARRRRRRRIFIC (1 Viewer)

Jimmie Foxx 1935

He's bringing his catchers mitt to spring training
Jesus. I wish I had noticed that.Between this pick and Silver King, I think Eephus is going to win this thing by a landslide.
I noticed it a while ago and just about soiled myself over it. I thought about going with '35 Foxx with my last pick but thought I could wait a round.Me no likey the Eephus.

Funkley's not here. Give us '86 Mike Scott I guess.
NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!I KNEW I should have taken him!

:wall:

edit: terrible pick
Not an awful pick, but he was pretty mediocre in SIM II. Walks everybody. I wouldn't have touched him for a few more rounds.
Scott was one of the better pitchers on my board. Of course, I have no idea what the sim's going to do--does it take scuffing into account?
He's actually not too bad. I took him 3rd round in SIM II. His walk rate (2.35 BB/9) hurts, but he's still worthy of being in someone's rotation.Unfortunately he isn't allowed to use that ridiculous knuckleball he had on the original RBI baseball.
Weren't there major updates since WIS II? The anecdotal evidence against Scott is meaningless in my book.

I'm unaware of any updates that made having a high walk rate good.

Check out Sam McDowell's numbers in the last SIM and you'll begin to understand.

Is Jimmie Foxx really going to be allowed to catch the entire season when he only caught 26 games in 1935? :hot: If so I'm really going to have to think about quitting.

1956 Mantle .353/.464/.705 +136 OBP +179 SLG

1930 Gehrig .379/.473/.721 +135 OBP +171 SLG

1997 Walker .366/.452/.720 +136 OBP +176 SLG

We might not win very many games, but we should score some runs....

I'll pick, but no one answered this - not counting Mr. Pickles being a smart ###.

He'll only be a catcher against your team.

You can actually play anyone anywhere but defense will suffer. If a player is graded at a position it makes a signifigant difference even if it's a crapy rating.
