With Defenses getting new players.....how does this change things? (1 Viewer)

Cromartie going to the Jets

Possibly-

Dansby going to Miami

Peppers to Chicago

Rolle to Giants

Arizona losing two key members....how much worse is that team?

Will the Jets D be THAT much better, etc....what do you guys think?

As a bears fan I like the idea of trying to get Peppers to improve the pass rush....If he gives his all. Now if they can show interest in Rolle as well.

Rolle was a serviceable FS, I wouldn't worry about his loss. Dansby's loss (and Berry's retirement) leaves a huge leadership and production vacuum on their defense. Yes, they still have good players on it, but minus Dansby, Berry, this team is going to hurt pretty badly next season if they fail to replace them with very players.

Solid post. This is what I was looking at when I created this thread. How much does that effect the defense.....but then....how much will that effect the offense? Perhaps the worse defense will allow more points and worse field position....that makes them pass more, etc.

I'd upgrade the Jets D. Their problem last season was lack of sacks and lack of turnovers. This might at least help in the turnover department, which may also help in the defensive scores department. Could have a similar impact to the one Darren Sharper had for New Orleans - they had one of the top fantasy defenses last season. Perfect fit for the Jets, as he won't be needed much to help with run defense.

Well, it's day 1 of FA, so who knows. But if the Cardinals roll into the season without near talent replacements of Berry and Dansby, their defense is going to hurt very badly. Even if they get decent talent replacements, it's probably going to be difficult to make up for the loss in the leadership of Berry/Dansby. I imagine they'll try to run as much as possible to keep the defense off the field and decrease the number of opposing offensive possessions, but ultimately will be forced to pass a ton to forge comebacks. The Cardinals are going to hurt all around next season IMO. They lost their starting QB and if Leinart doesn't make huge strides, he will be one of the worst starting QBs in the league. They are going to lose a top WR, and despite what people say about the backups on ARI, there is no guy to fill in exactly what Boldin did for the offense. If Leinart stays as he is, I doubt we will see the diversity in WR stats, and Fitz' numbers might go up a bit and everyone else will go down. It takes a good QB to spread the ball around, and Leinart isn't one. Their season will probably depend on how Wells plays. As of now, I'm upgrading Leinart (based solely on opportunity) Fitz, Wells, Hightower, downgrading all other ARI WRs and ARI D. But that may be obvious. ARI's individual defensive players may be upgrades, just based on the increase in tackle/int/sack/ff opportunities, since I imagine they'll end up being on the field alot. Local radio has idiot reactionaries, but they could be right when they were harking about the "two year run being over". I guess we will see how they do in the draft and in FA.

What about the Titan defense with a huge downgrade?

In two years they lose- Haynesworth, Kyle Vanden Bosch, and could lose Keith Bullock.....that is a huge void of talent and leadership leaving Nashville.

Losing KVB is not huge to them (yet).I think losing Bullock would be worse.Same with losing the leadership of Mawae on the Oline.
