wk 10 QB/Offense bust alert. Beck/Grossman reportedly (1 Viewer)

almost grabbed Beck in one league for next week. Glad I got Cassel instead...

"Three people with knowledge of the situation" tell the Washington Post that John Beck and Rex Grossman split first-team snaps in Redskins practice this week.

Beck has not played well since replacing Grossman, taking a team-record 10 sacks in Week 8 before failing to complete a pass longer than 17 yards in Week 9. It would still be surprising if he was given the hook this quickly. Beck is averaging "just" 1.3 turnovers per appearance compared to 2.2 for Grossman, and has posted similar passing numbers. The situation is clearly one to avoid in two-QB leagues, but barring implosion, it's unlikely Beck is benched against the Dolphins.Source: Washington PostNov 12 - 10:30 AM

actually since there are no bye weeks in wk 10, if you are trotting out beck anyway you must be insane or really desperate anyway. But It does kind of give pause to starting any WAS player on offense.

Playing Helu without hesitation.

I also think Grossman would be a bump for the Washington WRs. He may throw ints, but he moves the chains. Can't imagine how he'd do if he ever had some WRs....

... was also talk that the switch to Beck was not very popular in the locker room ... maybe Rexy popping back in stokes whatever embers are left ...

I think he had the team off to a good start. We'll see. I am still a Rex supporter, but he has put up some bad games. The fumbling thing has got to be corrected. He can't fumble once a game. They will keep coming for him if he does.Having said that, they are going to keep coming for him regardless. Its probably boom or bust with him the rest of his career or until he gets with a team that has some WRs.

As a Fred Davis owner, I'm hoping Rex gets the job back. Beck is terrible at getting the ball down the field. I don't care how many picks Rex throws or how often he fumbles, as long as he gets Fred the ball before 4th quarter garbage time. I hope Shanahan feels the same way. I see Rex as a positive for Davis and likely Gaffney as well.

As a Helu PPR owner, do not like.
Helu runs well also. I have no problem with Helu actually rushing the ball. Rex has a mean play action fake and also will hit the RB out of the backfield. It may be less receptions, but if Rex can stretch the field better, we may actually see the "explosive" plays out of Helu we all were expecting....

LOTS of talk Choice has looked really good this week, Helu might be the 3 down back this week

NFL Network reporting Grossman in as the starter over Beck.

Grossman isn't slinging Sammy Baugh, but can we put to bed this myth that Beck is some sort of diamond in the rough??? Dude sucks, plain and simple.

I was kicking around starting Fred Davis over Hernandez if Rexy got the start, so this gives me something to think about.

Same choice, & was gonna bench Davis b/c of Beck, but now Davis looks like a viable option. At least you gotta figure Davis will get some action before the 4th quarter w/ Grossman in

Neither have had stellar WRs to throw to in their careers. And I still believe QBs generally take time to season. But Beck has been worse than Tebow in getting the ball down the field. Just saying.

Fred davis has been reported as abusing illegal drugs in the offseason i wonder if that will affect his playing time...

Probably not. Grossman's been convicted of abusing the football and he's starting.BTW I heard no such report about Davis. Link?

Rut ro. Will Ratface sit Davis for this? Oh my, what to do. I may plug in Daniels just to be safe.http://rotoworld.com/player/nfl/4716/fred-davis

I heard the same story on Davis and it shouldn't. There are 10 other players involved in the steriods/HGH test and there were issues regarding a negotiated prosecution deferment. At the least, there will be appeals. And here come the Grossman haters.

Fred Davis, Trent Williams reportedly face fines for recreational drug use

By Mike Jones

Washington Redskins tight end Fred Davis and left tackle Trent Williams reportedly are among 11 NFL players facing fines for testing positive for recreational drug use during the lockout, according to ESPN and Yahoo! Sports reports.

According to the Yahoo! Sports report, there is some controversy surrounding the matter, because players were told by NFL Players Association Executive Director DeMaurice Smith that once the new CBA was agreed upon, they would receive a grace period before drug testing began. But drug testing began on the second day of training camp.

All 11 players’ identities have yet to be revealed, but ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Davis and Williams are on the list.

That probably won't stick. If they were told there was going to be a grace period, clearly to let da weedz get out of their systems, you can't have an take-backsies.

Thanks for the link. No, I don't think Davis (or Trent Williams, the other Redskin on the list) will see any change to their playing time as a result of this. The Redskin offens has 11 points in the last 2 weeks, so I don't see them sitting their best receiver and best O-lineman. They might consider asking the other, worse offensive starters to get stoned, though.

I guess we will have to wait to see if ratface strikes again. 1st rat says grossman is the starter all of a sudden. 2nd rat will bench davis to teach him a lesson. 3rd rat will have torain getting more playing time than helu. NEVER TRUST A RAT!

Davis isn't going to get in trouble for this. Start him today. The league will only fine him and I'm sure shabby doesn't give a crap about what he did during the lockout. It's a first offense.
