Wk16 Game Thread - Baltimore Ravens at Dallas Cowboys (1 Viewer)

First time I've gotten an extended look at Flacco. I can see why he's going to give Ryan a run for his money at ROY, pretty impressive.

I can't believe the announcers are blaming Tony Romo. He went against a great defense, and he was clutch in the 4th quarter. He totally proved himself to me. What more do people expect?

what does Dallas need to get in the playoffs? I am sure a win against Philly. need anyone to lose this week or next?

Let's see him play from behind. How many QBs, let alone rookies, have the luxury of that defense?

NFLN said a Dallas win and either two Tampa losses or one Atlanta loss.Basically all Cowboys fans are huge Vikings fans tomorrow.

are you a Jessica Simpson alias?
 You found me out.No, I wrote that because earlier I questioned Romo's ability to bring his team back in a situation like this. We're told that Romo is an elite quarterback, and one aspect of elite QBs we have seen over the years is to play great in the final quarter of a game no matter how lousy they were in the first 3 quarters. Big Ben has done this the last few weeks, for example. Peyton, Favre, Brady, they all have done this. But I haven't seen Romo do it, and that's why I brought it up.But he did it tonight. He had three good drives for 17 points in the 4th quarter. He was great, and clutch, and several of his throws under pressure were superb. So I couldn't believe the announcers were ripping him, and I said so.

I'm thinking the cowboys-eagles game shapes up as a "win and you're in" situation. That would be great to watch.

Too bad they'll lose next week at the Link. What Atlanta or Tampa does means nothing.
I agree. I think Philly will smoke them.It kills me to say that.

Why roll yours eyes? Let's use a little common sense here. The game where they got down fast (vs. Indy) they were DOA after the 1st quarter.
Why does his defense have anything to do with how well he's played this year? The guy doesn't have a very long leash and he's made the best of what they've let him do as a rookie. He's had a nice year, not sure what your comment had to do with what kind of year he's had or what kind of QB it looks like he'll be. The guy is for real.

I would like to see ALL new coaches next year. This is the first game I have had a chance to watch from beginning to end this year as a Cowboys' fan and as bad as Romo was and despite the penalties I still feel like the most significant thing I took from this game is that we have REALLY inadequate coaching at basically every position.

For me the primary off-season issues are at back-up QB(draft 2 rookies in the draft) and upgrade at every coaching position possible. There is no excuse for such lethargic play calling on both offense and defense.

Most importantly I give full credit to the Ravens for playing an excellent game all around. They mixed up the pass and the run and Flacco played extremely well all game. I think BAL can build on this game and I think they can be a good team with their rushing attack and defense in the AFC payoffs. For Dallas I can only say "what a waste" for the 2nd year in a row.

I sincerely hope we don't back into the playoffs. If you cannot win and take care of your own business at home then you really do not deserve to get in. ATL, TB, PHI and CHI all are more deserving.

Don't get me wrong, I am and always will be a Cowboys' fan but I do not see a team that is ready to take the next step. Certainly I am spoiled by the teams coached by Tom Landry and Jimmy Johnson and so the bar is quite high. Yet the bar will remain high and JJ now needs to address the coaching as I think he has done a great job acquiring the current roster. Get this group to play like a team for 60 minutes and I think we can't lose. That's coaching though and that's where we're at right now.

I think he looks pretty good but he hasn't been behind much where they've had to really wing it around. The game hasn't been on his shoulders yet. They've been able to manage him and contain him. Can he handle it? We won't know until they're getting the crap kicked out of them in the playoffs and he has to bring them back with Derrick Mason and The Magnificent Nobodies at WR.

Just got back from the sports bar. That game was dominated by Dallas and Small World Mason. Unfortunately Small Wolrd is better than Dallas. Good game Ravens.

Typical cowboys game here lately, coming from a cowboys fan. Play solid defense for 3 quarters, only to melt down when they need to step up (and when the offensive play-calling is a given). Offense blaming each other and WR's acting lackadaisical when thrown to. Penalties, penalties, penalties...Oh and Flozell almost went a whole game without a false start, but then realized that he may end his streak and got one late in the 4th

Well, here's rooting for Minn tomorrow.

Oh and for those wondering, Dallas needs to beat Philly next week first and foremost...and then hope ATL or TB loses one of their last 2 games. They were ahead of both TB and ATL this week, so they obviously own the tiebreaker over them.

Not a Cowboy fan, but I think you're wrong about this.First of all, nobody ever backs into the playoffs. If you get in, it's because you performed better than the teams that didn't, period. The ones who get in are the ones who deserve it the most, always.Second, you always want to get into the playoffs, because once you get there, you never know what will happen. The Cowboys are good enough to defeat anyone in the NFL, so why not? There are no dominant teams this year.

Totally disagree. If you just watched the game I did and re-read my post then you should understand why I feel the way I do. If they get in then JJ may be less likely to make coaching changes. Obviously I would like to see them win the SB but I don't see how they can even think about that or making the playoffs if they cannot beat what was supposed to be an offensively challenged BAL team at home. Inconsistent play across the board is a coaching issue. It's about focus, something Dallas does not possess. Yes they can miraculously win at PHI and somehow get in but do they deserve it? They play like this is their 2nd job.

As a Ravens fans, two things about post-game coverage come to mind:

1. We see press conferences from Wade P., Romo and TO, but not a single Raven. Who won the game?

2. TO was very classy during his long press conference. I was impressed.

Wow amazing! I prayed to the fantasy gods, at the end of the 3rd qtr, to salvage Romo's fantasy day for me by getting him 2 TDs, and keep me in contention for the playoffs. I then turn off the game and refuse to watch it. Just checked my stat tracker and he has 2 TDs!!! From -0.8pts to 14.5pts. The way the game was going I thought I'd be stuck with negative points. I'm a believer man! Fantasy gods you're amazing.

Totally agree. Another case of simple-minded announcers ignoring the game to push a predetermined storyline. Pathetic sportscasting imo.

whats pathetic is two drives in a row where the defense KNOWS they are just going to try to run the clock out, giving up 80 yard td runs on back to back plays. That is pathetic. The entire coaching staff should be fired on the spot. Just embarrassing, I would not let the defense cash their checks after that letdown.

To be fair to Deion, I'm sure it's difficult to see the field with TO's sack on his chin.

the Yankee's of football.. that is all

The leader of the offense is TONY ROMO - and its a shame he has to get dragged down by the ##### that is TO. He is the leader of the offense - and that means he is the leader of the team. Until he is cut or traded.

Kobe is slowly learning that, LeBron already knows it (a rare trait for a superstar btw), and most every REAL superstar knows it. Look back in history- it's not like it isn't obvious.

Have you EVER heard Hines Ward throw Ben under the bus? Marvin throw Manning? Plenty of examples. Have you heard Ray Lewis throw Flacco under the bus????????????? Why do you think Matt Ryan is potential ROY? Because R White is saying - " Just throw it man - I'll fix the rest and if I don't well we'lll be OK anyway and do it right the next time" Not in Dallas - oh no you better get me the ball now so I can suck up some attention. What a bunch of pansies - FAIL!

At this level - it matters. Period.

If I were management -I would blame TO. Pacman and R Williams the safety aside - so much talent - so little success. Witten is Dallas MVP and Romo/Barber/Ware are in the running.

hahahahahhaha - you just don't get it do you - not now not ever.

Yankees, yankees, yankees

dallas, dallas, dallas

FAIL - FAIL - FAIL

go cry to GM for a bailout

What a most surprising result. All of the big breaks seemed to go Baltimore's way (the fumble that wasn't, the personal foul out of bounds, Choice's bobble of a pitch that was gonna keep an important drive alive) but give the Ravens credit for weathering the early storm. It should have been an emotional night for the Cowboys for a lot of reasons but it seemed like they deflated a little when they didn't easily jump out to a big lead.

I thought the game's most important play was the successful fake FG that helped the Ratbirds get Dallas down by 2 scores. From there on, it seemed that the Cowboys couldn't get a big stop and the offense was always looking at the 2-score deficit. Good thing, too, as Romo appeared to have finally figured out the defensive looks he was getting (he mentioned this at the post game) and was moving the ball pretty well. But the situation also forced the Cowboys to take some risks defensively to keep the Ravens from running off a lot of clock and you saw what happened when the Baltimore Oline got hats on the right guys at the right times.

Magnificent Nobodies? Cowboy fans just make me cringe.

A couple of observers are speculating that Jerry Jones lobbied the league to have Baltimore as Dallas' last home game, in much the same way you schedule Iowa State for homecoming. Even if it's not true, the Ravens believed it, according to Ray Lewis and Suggs.

I just watched McClain's clinching TD run again and had the chance to appreciate Lo Neal knocking Brady James on his ###. Hamlin may have missed a tackle on that play but it was James who was just picking himself up off the turf when McClain scooted by into the open.

I don't even know where to start.
Given that your offensive coordinator is your next head coach, and he doesnt appear to understand how to call a game, I would recommend you start here. What an embarassment.
Dallas only moved the ball when they were in the hurry up offense and Garrett wasn't calling specific plays. At the end of the first half and the Fourth Quarter, Romo ran the hurry up and Dallas was getting plays. Should have went the hurry up more during the game, Romo seems to make better throws and decisions. Garrett did get to call the 4th and 2 play with a minute to go because Dallas called a timeout. Look how that play turned out.

Yeah, he needs a weak defense that tests him and lets him show what he's made of, like Tony Romo has!

Falco can only hope to one day match the stellar playoff record of the likes of Tony Romo.
