Woman handcuffed, placed in police car parked on train tracks and, well, gets hit by a train (1 Viewer)

Absolutely crazy that they parked on the tracks at any point in time, let alone after they put a suspect in the car.

Obviously indefensible but "Audit the Audit" is very anti-police and has spawned a whole bunch of "frauditors" that make money from youtube videos where they harass law enforcement, government workers, librarians, etc.

I saw this video awhile back and showed it to my son who is a police officer. He shook his head in disgust and was like "Um, I would expect a 16 year old new driver to know NOT to park on tracks."

Not to mention, how in the world did they not notice a train barreling down on them until the very last second? They tend to have a pretty bright light and this loud horn thing.

I would think that the police would know to not park on railroad tracks, and trains are audible from some distance. A lot of crossings have signage posted to call the railroad if an obstruction is on the tracks there, too.

Of course they know that.

Everything a police person does is always legal

How the heck did she survive that. Hopefully all of the officers involved have been relieved of their duties.
Don't know if they have been relieved of duty but Weld County is considering charging her for the alleged rode rage incident. Only evidence seems to the guys word and she did have a gun on her.

I recently talked to a Weld County Sheriff that is good friends with a Platteville police officer who was not involved in the situation and got a little insight to this whole thing, some of which I don't think has been reported, or at least I didn't see it reported in the couple articles I read.
  • The officer of the police department responsible was Platteville (this has been well reported, but just some insight as I used to live near here).
    • Platteville is a small town that is only maybe 1-2 miles long with 3,000 people, right on the corridor of this RR track (as well as HWY 85).
    • This is a very active track that anybody that has spent any time in the area knows.
    • The other cop that was there was from Fort Lupton which is the town directly south of Platteville and is also bisected by the same railroad track.
  • The officer that is directly responsible is a sergeant in the department, so not a low level newbie.
  • The reason for all the police involvement was that there was a report that the driver was waving a gun at people (this has been reported) from her car, and ultimately was found to be impaired.
  • The driver, at least as of about two weeks ago was still in the hospital.
  • The cops involved are on (likely paid) administrative leave.
  • Both the sheriff I talked to and his friend (who I didn't talk to) were baffled by the cop sitting on the track as it is so busy.
