Woman Hits/Kills Child Cyclist and Sues His Family (1 Viewer)

This was at 1:30AM

Child was 17

It was lightly raining

Woman has admitted to being over the speed limit

Never received a breathalyzer (from all of the articles I have read about this, there are a lot of rumors she was coming from a bar)

Husband was in car behind her (husband is a cop)

She is suing for emotional stress for $1.2MM

2 other kids riding were hit, one was injured very badly, she is suing them and their families too

Honestly, if this was my kid, I'd kill her... I wouldn't be able to control myself.

Her husband was following her and was allowed to take her home with no tests being administered. Any one of us doesn't get that privilege. She is absolute scum to sue the family who lost a child to her for her "distress". Like FC I might just hunt her down and take my chances with a jury full of parents.

 
At first I thought maybe she was getting a bad rap and that the kid did something stupid and caused the whole thing. But then I heard she WS suing the kid, his parents, the other kid, the police, the town, etc. She's clearly a dirt bag and I hope she gets an epic beat down in court and loses everything she has and will ever have.

ETA: not to put any blame on the victim, but this is one good reason why a teenager (or anyone really) riding their bike at 1am in the rain is a terrible idea.

That family also lost their 2nd child to a prescription drug overdose because he was having trouble coping and needed to be medicated.

I would kill the lady too.

 
One would hope she winds up dead with her head detached from her body and police "botch" the investigation.

Reading this made me as sick to my stomach as almost any article I've ever read. The fact that a breathalyzer or any other testing wasn't administered is even more bothersome.

 
I don't normally wish death on another human being, but I think I'm going to have to make an exception in this case. I've read stories about child molesters who were more sympathetic than this lady.

 
Death is too good for her. She should have her fingers and toes cut off. Then her eyes gouged out and one eardrum pierced. That's just me though. #### her.

 
There are not enough bad things that can happen to this pig to satisfy me. And her piece of garbage husband too for that matter.

They did not apply their brakes properly, the claim states. They were incompetent bicyclists.ETA from another news outlet...

Any way this can be a viral message outing her, anyone who ever hires her, any organization she joins etc? I'll dedicate 15 min each night to ensuring that she suffers in some way from her own pathetic lack of heart

She thinks she's the victim. My guess is she hasn't really started to suffer yet. The internets have a way of intruding on people like this. Maybe that's how we reintroduce a little shame to society.

It's bad enough that she's already skirting the law by having her officer husband take her home with no DUI test. But then to have the nerve to turn around and sue the families of the kid's she killed? That's a special kind of person, right there.

There is no doubt, if this was my kid, I'd kill her. Wouldn't think twice. I might actually just kill a couple of people in her family and let her live so she can see how it feels.

 
This reminds me of that Cardinals pitcher who got loaded and then crashed into a car on the highway and died. Remember his family sued the towing company and the person who's car was on the shoulder? As well as a ton of other innocent people.

I never heard what happened to those cases, but I assume they were thrown out. I hope so, anyway.

It was dropped after the Missouri Alcohol and Tobacco people cleared the restaurant of any wrong doing.

In a way this may be the best thing. There was no real investigation before. Now if she wants to go forward there will be a very interesting deposition. Where were you coming from? Had you been drinking? Officer why did you allow her to leave without checking to see if she was sober? Maybe she has just stepped in it big time due to her greed.

She has alleged that this comes from the family attempting to smear her and is part of the reason she's filing this ...drum roll please... countersuit filed by her insurance company. They're suing her for about a million dollars for hitting the kids, who were wearing dark clothing, had insufficient reflectors, no lights, and were riding three across on the roadway at 1:30 a.m.

She was driving - by all evidence 100% sober, not texting, on a roadway at 1:30 a.m. and three teenagers were bicycling three across on the road, illegally, didn't have the proper illuminating or reflective equipment, and couldn't be seen. What's she supposed to do, just fork over the million dollars they're suing her for?

 
And as for "she was speeding" - the conversion of speeds works out to "she was going 55 in a 50." So, yes, she was about 6.2 mph over the speed limit, estimated, and they were riding three people across in dark clothing without lights on a road with a 50 mph speed limit at 1:30 in the morning.

Not according to the police report, which states that she was given a roadside test and registered "zero alcohol content in her blood system."

Normally when lawyers start to defend people as I see as bad people, it makes me dislike lawyers even more. But I actually agree with what you're saying here. Upon hearing more of the facts, I understand what you're saying.

I guess the only thing I'm still not sure on is why her husband whisked her home without doing a sobriety test. That's still a little sketchy.

What 'evidence' says she was 100% sober? He police officer husband rushed her home before that could be determined.
