Woodgeeks: One or two sandings for Doug Fir Trim? (1 Viewer)

Climbing up the Walls
I bought a good amount of Doug Fir for trim, baseboards, etc. This is reclaimed, virgin material. After sanding it down with 120 sandpaper, is it necessary to go back with 220 before applying stain (Osmo Polyx oil).

I don't have a problem doing the additional sanding, but am wondering if it's overkill.

Thanks for the input.
